I hate the it gets better project. I've hated it sense I ever heard about it. My entire reason for hating it is embedded in the "mission" type thing at the top of their page
"Many LGBT youth can't picture what their lives might be like as openly gay adults. They can't imagine a future for themselves. So let's show them what our lives are like, let's show them what the future may hold in store for them."
It is entirely fatalistic, and does nothing but harm gay culture. It's the same type of fatalistic bullshit the feed all the kids in school that lead to that festering piece of shit Occupy.
Lets show them what the future holds in store for them, not, lets show them what we're doing to improve civil rights, not lets give them the tools to actively MAKE change in their communities. No, just "it gets better" not it gets good, it gets to a point where you're on equal standing with everyone. No, it just gets better.

We as humans shape society, it's our responsibility to actively campaign our own agendas.

the past three or four generations of Americans have been coddled and pruned to being the most socially un-aware group of little shits this country has seen since the 1800's. And especially within the queer community this rings true. I see all of my queer friends and acquaintances complaining quite a bit about our situation but few of them are doing jack shit to rectify it they sit back and play the victim but are unwilling to be their own hero's. So I believe The it gets better project is a blight on society and the queer community.

i have chosen not to let that hate over-whelm me...and to pity this mentality and the fools who instigate it, because they wouldnt have much to do if all 'those people' would begin to see it this way too - with so many liberated minds those individuals would now be in the shadow of the others light.

to simply accept yourself and others it happens - cherish the past, be aware of the present, and plan for the future - ive found not being able to plan for the future, i become trapped in the moment, only to be left with the past to hold more value over then my own future, which doesnt last for long at a productive rate.

This must be that lovely backwards mirror thing. (:
Oh, and another trinity hehe.
(Key) & triforce ♡ ha ^

On topic, I think everybody should just be exactly themselves.
You different than me?
That's cool. (:

Of course, everyone is but I can't stand people playing purposefuly being victims or people teaching people to be victims.

Like this morning, my friend posted a video of like 6 whit kids all beating up this asian kid, the Asian kid didn't do shit to defend himself, not one punch or kick of retaliation, not one push of an assaulter. Thats cool you want to be a pacifist okay, but he didn't even try to run, he had a few opportunities where he was on his feet on the outside of the group but he just stood there and waited for them to get their breath back to kick his ass some more;

and honestly, I was more pissed off at him for doing jack shit to protect himself than I was at the people kicking his ass. In fact I have no contempt for them at all because of how much of a (tries to find a non-female oppressing castigation)... "pushover?" he was. The feeling or lack there is is in my gut.

I don't know, I've let myself get jumped.
It wasn't some moral or philosophical stance.
I just didn't have any will to fight back.
It's just body pain anyway.

But that was just random and once.
Fighting is cool when it's a fun thing.
I don't really like feeling angry or whatever though.
It's just like, fun.

Or maybe that kid was scared?
Or weak. Some people do let themselves be weak, purposely or not.
I don't know, mostly it just doesn't matter to me what other people do.
At least, not when it's something so menial or incidental..

I legit thought don't even know what this project is yet,
I thought it was another lingual twist on that reverse magic thing haha.
But bigotry is stupid in any form, everyone has the right to self-expression, and it can't be changed.
Even though that means, unfortunately, that twats have the right to their dickery.

"This public service announcement is bright to you by the letter M;

If you're being bullied, either defend yourself appropriately (no guns, please) or alert the proper people to help.

It's not wrong to tell someone you're being hurt."

it is a backwards mirror thing, the kind where you are shown what seems best for you, and your potential is explained.

and i am plenty guilty of doing the same, i didnt realize it at the time but...

Oh, then lovely. I hate (hehe) the project, too. (;

It's okay though panic.. We're all still learning, right?

if in your experience you feel confident that you have gained knowledge then, yes you are.

what i have learned is not to hate this sort of thing, as it becomes counter-productive. if you cant beat them, join them, is what some people decide and hate is exhausting.

OP, I totally get what you're saying. But you know what, some people don't want to be social reformers, aren't cut out for it, etc. They just want to be happy and move on with their lives. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. There should be a message for these people, too.

You're such a little shit, jesus. What is some kid supposed to do about getting jumped by a gang of other guys? What's the point in fighting back? And that is somehow more reprehensible than committing a hate crime?

I think you need to seriously reevaluate your ethical compass because it sucks.

If you think that it's OK to beat up weak people on the basis that they're weak you're some kind of Nietzschean nut or something.

I am a nihilist and a militant, extreme pacifism disgusts me. I'd probably disown the kid if he was my child. If he didn't care enough about himself to try and defend himself I don't see any reason to care about how he feels or he is doing. The first fight I ever got in was in 3rd grade against about 6 5th graders because they were picking and beating up on someone. I'm the one who got in trouble that day too.

In other news I can't find my lighter.
