I Dont Know. Help Please!

^ Well then you are that type of person who likes to alter his / her consiousness.. You woulda gone there in the end.

Bullshit.

Don't you think it's more likely that it's just if you are the kind of person to try one drug you are more likely to try another?

there are a huge list of risk factors for getting into hard drugs. however, that said, would you be better off as:

someone who seeks out intense sensations.

OR

someone who seeks out intense sensations and spends a lot of time with people taking and selling drugs.

i'm with leet . . never tried anything hard until we ran out of pot and the dealer had something else. to be honest, i didn't get into pot until my late teens because my sensation-seeking needs were being met by distance running (which i had to quit due to injury). and it really doesn't matter if "you would have gone there in the end" anyways . . there's a WORLD of difference between experimenting with drugs when you're 18 or 20 and experimenting with drugs when you're 13.

To the OP:

I wouldn't worry about permanently fucking up your life just because you tried pot once or twice. But "trying pot once or twice" goes along with a lot of other more subtle factors that can eventually cause you big problems (peer influence, the exclusion of other activities, relationships with friends/family, the idea that to have fun you should use substances, etc). At the least, be very careful not to let pot influence other aspects of your life . . but honestly you'd be a lot better off finding better shit to do with your time.

13 is way too young to be experimenting with drugs. I work with this age group and most of the people who start experimenting with drugs at this age usually have problems related to school or their families somewhere down the line. Many of them end up dropping out, because they couldn't stay focused on school and were failing.

At your age you should be concentrating on school, playing sports, hanging out with your friends, developing hobbies and dating. That's pretty much it. Drugs will only complicate all of that. You have the rest of your life to experiment with drugs, don't make that a priority now, you will only be asking for trouble

Everybody in this thread FAILS so far, except for rickolasnice.

Kyle, you are too young to be smoking pot. And you obviously don't know enough facts in order to make an educated decision.
Do your research, weigh up the pro's and con's. This is what recreational drug use is all about. Make sure you know how the drug is going to affect you and what the consequences are.

Without even reading the rest of the replies this thread should be over right here. This is ALL that needs to be said.

Kyle,

You are way too young, trust me, i started smokign at 14... and Now that i'm in my early 20s... i wish i had waited until 16 at least...

18 is the age that i really wish i started smoking weed though.

let me just make it clear that i'm not arguing with you--

my brother started smoking pot when he was 8 or 9 years old (i can't remember which, i just remember seeing him do it at his bus stop when i was in 2nd grade). he habitually smoked throughout the end of middle school all the way until the present, and he's 24 now.

i'm not going into the details, but he's a successful college graduate, and holds down a damn good job that he's passionate about and makes a salary that affords him, his girlfriend, and my on-the-way nephew all the necessities and plenty of luxuries.

...was he too young to start smoking weed? (if you say yes, i'm not going to get mad. i'm just interested to hear what people would have to say who hold the point of view that there should be a blanket rule regarding a person's age before they indulge in any kind of recreational substances.)

p.s. a 13 year old can research things just as well, if not better, than the technologically retarded generation that's preceded us

^ Your brother is the Exception.

not the rule.

there will be always exceptions to the rule...

Make sense?

I know alot more drop outs that started smoking weed...

I started young and i'm on my way to graduate successfully.

but I don't know many others that have been smoking as long as me, and that are stilll in schooll... I know another guy. my old partner in crime.

We are the exception to the rule...

I'm just saying in the name of harm reduction... that you are more likely to fuck up and get lazy/ try other drugs the younger you start smoking weed...

This IS my argument Jibult.

Cannabis can have its drawbacks when used to ridiculous excess or by a select few predisposed to the negative side, overall it is the most safe/benign drug out there as far as mental and/or health problems are concerned, much safer than alcohol!
I would tell you 13 is too young but that would be hypocritical as i started when 12. At that age don't make too much of a habit of it, that said, too much caffeine at that age will fuck you up let alone anything else lol. The occasional smoke at your age while not beneficial would have to be the least harmful thing you could do to yourself. The 2 possible reasons you didn't get high are either you didn't smoke enough or you didn't inhale properly, after you puff off the joint take a DEEP breath through your mouth before you blow it out, at your age unless your a pack a day smoker (sadly I have seen a few 13 year olds like that) you should be dying choking on that fucking smoke, DYING, keep inhaling, if your weed isn't total shit and your not a massive cunt then .2-.25 grams of decent weed inhaled properly should get your ass high as shit. As a daily smoker I could smoke that amount and while being far from " fucked up" easily distinguish the feeling from being sober.
To answer your question is it worth it? I believe yes, as a result of drug use and being exposed I have alienated and disappointed the majority of my family, I see that as much their problem as mine, only you can answer that question for yourself, alot of parents will think you are a piece of shit for even trying weed, some will endorse it over alcohol its all relative. If you aren't stupid and you are only smoking on the occasion it shouldn't be too difficult to NOT GET CAUGHT. Massive over indulgence in cannabis (and other drugs I might add) have caused me a few problems over the years, none have rivalled the problems of being caught by people who disapprove.

To the OP, please be very careful. Marijuana use can open a gateway to use of other, harder, more dangerous and addictive drugs. Lots of kids smoke pot at 13, and lots of them end up in full blown addiction to other drugs within a couple of years.

Hey thanks for posting some bullshit american government approved propaganda.

Smoking marijuana does not lead to other "harder drugs". Stop reciting propaganda invented on a whim over 50 years ago.

^ actually Northside stated "IT CAN"

It did for me, so you can't refute that it CAN... it's not always "It WILL" but you cant deny that "IT CAN"

Thats such a bullshit thing to say imo ^

What about cigarettes? And alcohol? And even things like TV and school.. they CAN all lead to you taking "hard" drugs. Having friends, no friends, a job, no job.. they CAN all lead to drug usage..

If you are the type of person to experiment with drugs then you are the type of person to experiment with drugs.. smoking cannabis isn't going to turn you into that person.. you already were that person.. cannabis just happened to come along first most of the time probably because it's the most used / easily available illegal drug.

My point isn't coming across very clearly.. im pretty tired and cba to try and word it better :p

Why do i say that? Yes ciggs and alcohol CAN as well...

BUT FOR ME PERSONALLY it was weed.

Why do drugs lead to other drugs? USually the first drugs you try give you a "taste" of inebriation, at which point, peoples personality can take it to the next level.

You cannot argue that weed COMPLETELY IS NOT a gateway drug.

I've known hundreds of drug users... and for SOME weed WAS the gateway drug.

there's hard evidence of it. you can't dispute that it IS NOT COMPLETELY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for harder drug use in SOME individuals.

by argue i meant like hostilely saying "fuck you, you're wrong i'm right." that's not what i was doing.

in the spirit of harm reduction, though, you're right. i just don't agree with the stance that there should be an age prerequisite when it comes to mind-altering substances-- from cigarettes all the way to LSD.

You might wanna concentrate on school and stuff for at least 2 or 3 more years until you start experimenting any further. Make sure you at least do well enough in school to graduate high school, that would be my suggestion. Its just that if you start smoking weed at 13, you will probably be smoking daily pretty soon and schhool and studies will probably turn to shit. Mine did

I guarantee if you start getting high at age 13, you won't get laid nearly as much as your friends that don't start smoking till way later.

Hope this gets your attention! :D

i think 13 is too young.
i didn't start smoking until i was 18 and in my second semester of my senior year.
i'm 19 now.
i didn't start smoking daily until about several months ago.
it can be a problem if you aren't disciplined. you'll start high school soon, and really need to focus on graduating.
and i'm pretty sure pot can hinder that.
i'm incredibly happy my habit of smoking didn't become a problem til after i graduated high school.

Yea, straight up. I'm not for all that gateway drugs theory, but 13 is to young to start altering your brain chemistry, and will start getting you in the "habit" of getting high for fun. Honestly most (not all) smokers I know started at about 13, and you can tell when they started early. Instead of learning about who they where and what they like when they where that age when that happens, they where smoking. These people have no real hobbies or interests, and no goals. With little income most have at that age all their moneys spent on pot, and whenever I'm chillen at their place, the most they have in their room is a TV and stereo, and smoking supplies. Nothing that indicates any other interests.

This is just what I'v personally observed seen I'v started token. Most of my buddies started years before me, and not to be arrogant, but it shows. Some are barley making it through a free ride through school our managing personal relationships. Yet I'm at the same age (or younger), 18 that is (still very young lol) and am earning $24.50 an hour with benefits and pension, usually working 50-60 hours a week, out of high school. And this is just to pay for school so I can really get worken. I'm not a prodigy or anything, I just stay focused. 5 years of being high would have stopped that for me.
