hi when i tried to post a trip report, it came up with a ''400 bad request'' page, how do i resolve this?

Your post could be to long or it could contain combinations of characters that are seen by the server as a potential security problem. Lets assume for now that it is length and you just need to chop your post up into a few chunks and post them one at a time. If you still have problems we can work on it by posting even smaller chunks in Testing Grounds and see if we can eliminate the characters or word combination that is creating problems.

now it wont let me send posts longer than about three paragraphs and it wont let me post more than twice. i've tried the testing grounds with the same results

Have you tried chopping the text even further to see if it's a word combination that is causing issues? If you want, PM me what you're trying to post--I'm bored enough to try posting it to see if it'll work. :P

I looked at what is in TG. I don't know that this is it, but perhaps if you formatted your time notations other that T00:00-. The issue with these situations is usually special punctuation or keywords related to computer languages. If that doesn't work the only means I know to get through this is posting segments til the characters that bother the server are discovered and substituted with something else.

i tried PMing it but it did not allow me to and came up with the same window :S its fine if i post about a line at a time. but if i posted a line at a time i'd be here for about 24 hours

It sounds like it probably is some character combo thats messing it up if you are able to post line by line. The way to figure out which characters it is, try posting each paragraph individually in its own post (this works best in TG), once you find the paragraph, post line by line, and so on until you can find the specific characters. That way you only have to do one paragraph rather than the entire post.

There is a security system in place to help stop the site from being compromised. If it catched anything that looks like a system or sql command then it will send you to a 400 bad request... If your post has brackets in it you may want to try swapping them for [ and ] that may solve about half of the problems, the other half are SQL commands which you may not realise unless you know SQL. (Sending a PM to someone with the post will also cause a 400 bad request because the server doesn't distinguish between the posts or PM's)

Hope that makes sense.
