^still it causes night terrors and nightmares for a bunch of people, including me. As well, once you're using seroquel to sleep every night for more than a month, good luck getting to sleep without it if you decide you can't handle the side effects anymore.
I was on 100mg every night for 12 weeks for severe insomnia and I never, not once experienced night terrors or nightmares. And I didn't have a problem sleeping after stopping the stuff because it was making my blood sugar spike. And it'll depend on him (everybody reacts differently) as to what side effects will bother him the most.
The one side effect I recall the most was this nasty hangover-type feeling each morning.
The only people that should be taking seroquel are people with symptoms of positive schizophrenia who have tried other medications already that didn't help. or stim/psych users who want to knock themselves out a few times per month. I say this having been prescribed seroquel for 2 months, fucking hated it, switched to hydroxyzine, much better IMO.
I disagree. I feel that anyone who is desperate to get some sleep should try it as needed, as a last (or 2nd last perhaps before moving onto barbs) resort.
Seroquel is a chemical sledgehammer, it will knock you out but can do some real damage longterm. There seems to be a trend with doctors at the moment of prescribing it before exploring all other options.
Yes, it is a nasty drug. My first shrink did exactly that (Rx'd it first). If I knew then what I know now about it, and recalling what he told me about the drug when prescribing it - I probably would have assaulted him. Some of these quacks are a real piece of work.
That being said, I'd use it again (very sparingly) to help me sleep if
absolutely nothing else was working. That's also taking Zyprexa into account, which I was also on for roughly 6 weeks before deciding my first shrink didn't have my best interests in mind (I noticed him writing my prescription with a "Seroquel" pen, and his prescription pad was on top of an "Effexor XR" clipboard - another drug he Rx'd me at first).
Re. nightmares - I found that whenever I used diphenhydramine (used in OTC sleep aids) to help me sleep, I experienced some of the most vivid nightmares ever. However, I am also willing to accept that others probably do not have any nightmares while using it. So again, it really depends on the person.
Oxy8_8 might find Seroquel works well, and with minimal side effects. Or, worst case scenario, Nueroleptic Malignant Syndrome?
