Mental Health I blew through my gabapentin script again

It went really well. He left me on the same dose with a promise to revisit where I am in a month. He did say he won't help me if I run out again which is fair I guess. He did downplay the withdrawal risk though which makes me nervous. I'm just going to make sure I don't run out this time lol. I also goy my anti depressant changed to Effexor with abilify as an add on.

Man, cj, you are really having to go through some changes with all this (meds). I hope the new combination works well for you. <3

I am prescribed 120 800mg a month. I used to run out really early for the same reason. Binging when I'd get them filled and be out for a week or so before I could get the refill. Thankfully, my mom gets them too but she gets the 300mg capsules that she doesn't take so she just gives them to me. I can take 10 or more of those. I started to open them and just take the powder (really nasty) because they take so long to start working. Anyway, I ran out and my mom couldn't get hers filled for a few days and I was in hell. I'm also an opiate addict to and I'd compare the w/d to the mental part of the opiate w/d, at least for me. It didn't let up until I got some more from my mom.

Also, I notice when I take higher amounts, I get weird little ticks. It makes me jump, kind of like how you do when you are on the verge of falling asleep.

OMG I get those exact same ticks when I take high doses. Its really weird but you explained it perfectly IMO. Your also right about the withdrawal its very similar to opiates mentally and is absolute hell. If I run out again I will probably cheat and go to a walk in the box with a story to get enough to last until my next refill or appointment.

I am really putting all my hope in these antidepressants. I haven't been talking much about it on BL but I have been considering suicide lately and I had to take a really big swing at feeling better or I am going to have to make some hard decisions about my life. I knew life after heroin would be hard but this is way harder than I imagined it would be. Turns out I was using heroin to self medicate my extreme depression. Anyway I took some kolonopin as a treat and had a good meal so I feel ok at the moment. I want to thank everyone who responded to this thread. You guys helped me make an educated decision.

Im prescribed 8 600mg pills a day. My psych is very generous with them. Docs definitely prescribe gabapentin often and for many different reasons. Its kind of a go to med for drug addicts. Definitely pushes as a drug that has no recreational value. And... we all know that for some, it can definitely be at least kind of recreational. For me it is at very high, spaced out doses but for only a few days with tolerance breaks in between.

That said I recommend taking it as prescribed. Ive run out early many times and rebound anxiety is very real, and it's a bitch. I understand your struggling man and am glad you have a good honest relationship with your doctor. I hope your new plan and regimen works out for you. Keep us informed.

I too get muscle spasms and the occasional "electric feeling" throughout my body, mostly in my extremities. At times, a blurred/dull stony feeling from taking high doses. I also get a lyrica script... very similar but stronger as you probably know.

Stick with the new plan! Good luck. :)
