This is my first post on BL and although I have been lurking for years I am not sure if I posted this in the correct area....nonetheless mods move it as you please..

A simple background on myself I am 21 years old and spent most of my last two years addicted to heroin. I have had ample experience with benzodiazepines, but as far as drug experiences go opiates and benzo's are the only types of drugs I have ever had an experience with. . As of this minute I am 14 days clean from heroin AND I received Vivitrol (380mg Naltrexone XR Injection) 3 days ago. For those of you who don't know, Naltrexone is an opiate blocker - a complete opiate blocker. Therefore if I were to get into a head on collision with an airplane I would not be able to recieve and opiate based pain medication, pity eh?

Any questions about Vivitrol, or Naltrexone I would love to answer, or at least give it my best shot. As for my question, what other drugs are there other than opiates that are worth giving a try? I have had years of experience with opiates from tramadol to heroin. I love the euphoria from opiates as well as the energy I receive from them... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you were in an accident you could still be given calcium channel blockers and/or gabaergics in combination with NMDAR antagonists. Pain killing effect should add up to those of opiates with alot more side effects but you won't be totally screwed. Also the answer to your question: NMDAR antagonists (such as ketamine and PCP) are similar to opiates and benzos in many aspects and are less addicting (though physical and mental addiction is still possible).

Greetings O T , welcome to B/l. You didn't mention why it was you stopped doing H. Did you just make the decision to stop? We're you influenced by family, job, the law? Is it your intention to say away from H in the future? I'm asking because I have years and years of drug use and abuse. I've quit H more times than I can count. Speaking for myself, any time I quit , I found something else to get high on thinking as long as I'm not doing dope all is well. Sooner or later, I always went back to my true love, opiates. And all the misery that made me quit in the first place, was there waiting for me. Hate to be a downer.
Maybe you different I was certain that I was. And the old saying "if I only knew then what I know now", well............ Maybe someone will come along and answer your question but I felt compelled to reply a different way. I was just thinking I wish someone would have told me this stuff when I was 21. But they probably did and I just didn't hear them. After all I'm different. Anyway enough from me, glad you're here.
