I am taking Wellbutrin for the first time due to mild-depression. What should I expect? Am I suppose to feel better just because I'm taking this drug?
My doctor prescribed me one 150mg pill every day, but he didn't told what to except. Do I feel anything at all when it finally "kick"?
I am also taking Lyric 25mgx3 per day due to anxiety.

It's my first time experiencing drugs btw.

Thanks

You might feel a little bit of a "speed" like effect from the Wellbutron, but nothing to write home about. Most anti-depressants aren't really "fun" to abuse, and can be dangerous if you don't use them as prescribed. And I've never heard of "Lyric", do you mean Lyrica?

Yes, I meant to say Lyrica.

I don't intend to abuse it, actually I want it to help me feel better, and that's why I'm following my doctor instructions. He asked me to call him in 10 days to tell him how I'm feeling. But from what I understand Wellbutron takes up to 4 weeks to start working.

I just want to know if people depression disorders start to feeling better after taking Wellbutrin.

Thanks

Different ADs work for different people. I personally take Cymbalta/Abilify for my MDD. But I did know someone who took Wellbutron and it didn't work for them, so they switched to Prozac (which from experience and various sources is a bad drug in itself). It might work for you, though, everyone is different. And I've never heard of anyone being prescribed Lyrica for anxiety. That's quite odd.

Wellbutrin and Effexor (and a bit of 4-HO-MET here and there ;) )together have been a godsend for me. I've heard of doctors using Lyrica before for anxiety, in fact I used to be prescribed gabapentin for anxiety. It stopped working for me though, so I stopped and now I have like a year's supply of it just sitting around lol.

I took it for 1.5 years for depression. I found it to kick in very shortly after I started taking it, producing a speed-like effect but also a characteristic anti-depressant effect. It's remarkably effective, but I couldn't deal with the cognitive dulling and a slight depression it elicited in me. As for Chromophobia's link, it's worth a look but dextroamphetamine is a whole different ball game i.e. if you don't have great willpower and/or experience a big crash and haven't tried a bunch of other methods and don't have at least some AD(H)D then gtfo (in the kindest way possible). good luck.

wellbutrin is one of the only anti-depression meds out of all the SSRIs, SNRI, TCAs, amd aytipcal amti-depression meds that actually helps alot with depression. wellbtrin is a substituded cathinone, or in other words, wellbutrin is part of the amphetamine "family". hahahaha

hochiminh described it very good. anti-depressant effect with amp-like stimulation. wellbutrin feels like dextroamphetamine wiithout the euphoria or "head high."

wellbutrin works really welll for depression, not so much for anxiety and aggitation. i like wellbutrin, it makes my mood brighter, and i like lyrica.

it is a good combo, your doctor is a smart dotor listen to her/

What do you mean by your first time experiencing drugs?

Back to the main point is Wellbutrin works well for a lot of people, but it can cause anxiety especially people who already have an anxiety disorder. Also keep in mind, however, that it really depends on what type of anxiety you have. If it is social anxiety, wellbutrin might help you in that regard. Also expect to loose weight which could be a good thing or bad thing. Make sure you continue to get enough food as hunger became a thing of the past once I started Wellbutrin. With the extra energy from the welbutrin I highly suggest you start to exercise if you don't already. I've only had success with prozac after I started to do cardio and lifting as well. (Prozac was the only anti-depressant combo that truly worked for me).

Play it by ear though and don't abuse the lyrica or you will loose its anxiety effects very fast. It works great, but after trying it recreationally a few times (which wasn't that great) it has never again worked in low doses.

I think the OP wants to know if you should be able to tell whether or not Wellbutrin is working right when you start taking it or if you have to wait 4-6 weeks to start noticing a difference like with some other antidepressants? If that's what you're asking, most people notice some benefit pretty quickly, although not noticing a benefit within the first few days doesn't mean it doesn't work for you, you should take it for a month before deciding if it's doing anything for you or not (unless of course you get unwanted side effects that don't start to improve within a few days to a week, talk to your Dr if that happens, or if you get any serious side effects def tell your Dr right away). But yeah, Wellbutrin tends to start giving noticeable effects like improved energy, motivation and mood sooner that other antidepressants, although it can still take a while to see full benefits. It's effects can be pretty subtle though, it's unlikely you'll just instantly feel wonderful. Hope this makes sense :)

With typical anti D's that work on serotonin, like zoloft prozac etc they usually take a while to kick in. But since wellbutrin is a dopamine re uptake inhibitor it kicks in pretty fast. I'm sure it should work well for depression since everyone likes dopamine, but i can see it causing anxiety in people.

Bupropion pretty much starts working right away.
