i am taking adderall and i am concerned please help.

I am 17 and I am currently taking adderall and i feel very hyper and anxious while taking it. It really hepls though. But some days I feel really annoyed at everyone and dont feel like talking to anybody.
I thought that I was cranky because i was depleating a chemical in my brain that was being used by the drug? If i am right can anyone tell me if they have any ideas to take somthing to replentish what i am depleating. If i am wrong can someone explain to me in detail what is accually happening when i take this drug and what is causeing me to become so cranky. Also what is causeing the neurotransmitters in my brain to fire so rapidly and in turn making me think so intense and deep about things. [email protected]

Is it prescribed to you, or are you taking it w/out a prescription for recreational purposes? Your thought processes are altered because it is an amphetamine, which is a stimulant. The crankiness may be caused by the speed comedown. I believe that it depletes the brains store of dopamine. Unless you are prescribed it, and taking it as recommended, quit useing it. If it is scripted to you, talk with your doc about the symptoms that you are experiencing, and he can lower your dosage, or switch you to a diff med.

Sounds like you're on too high a dose! I would try taking less, and see what happens. Also tell those symptoms to your Dr, and he should be able to help -- either by lowering the dose, making suggestions about when to take them, etc.
 
It is being perscribed by a doctor and im only taking 5-15mg at a time with 5 mg tabs.
1. Is there anyway to make the comedown easyer and not make me as cranky.
2. Would it make the comedown easyer if I took 2.5mg.
3. Is there a way to restore or increase dopamine before or while the drug is being used.
4. Can it be dangerous for me to take 5mg every 1/2 hour over a 5 hour period (ex. depleating all my dopamine).
5. What would happen if i depleated all of my dopamine.

oh yeah, and if your even "depleting" any dopamine at all it will be back in the morning. so as long as you dont stay up for days youll be fine, try taking lots of vitamins.
 
everyone who owns adderall needs to have a strong will or have someone hold them for them and regulate their dosage. That stuff is crazy, I've been up on it for days. I just want to sleep. I didnt take any tonight so hopefully I'll get into consciousness. I took 30mg at 3pm though, it's 11pm now and I cant stop thinking. Adderall is bad.
 
The brain synthesizes dopamine endogenously very quickly, so don't worry about the nutritional supplements.

Speak for yourself, and read a book on self-control. It really doesn't take that much. I have much more of a problem with controlling my drinking and benzo consumption (and I'm not even an alcoholic).
And who's going to hold it for you, your Mom? If you give it to anyone else to hold for you (i.e. you don't live with your Mom), you might get a few of them back. Do old people give their bottles of Oxy to others to hold for them? Hell no! They aren't THAT stupid.
 
It's simple - your dose is too high, or else you're taking it too often - I agree with the Adderall XR suggestion, it would give you a more constant plazma level ... since you have a legit need then you should speak with your doctor about these concerns..
 
I'll jump on the Adderall XR bandwagon. I've been taking it for almost two months and having only good things to say about it.
Most people can expect to have some kind of crash. Once in a while I'll get bitchy by the end of the day. The extended release version helps with this though. Coming up and down a couple times a day on regular adderall fucked up my sleep, eating, and mood more than XR. Talk to your doc about switching and maybe lowering your dose.
 
What is this XR? Does it last longer? I got some blue 10mg pills recently that looked bigger and much different from the ones I used to get a few years ago. I just got them in a bag as adderall, could they have been XR? I did notice I'd drop at 1pm and at 1am I'm still talking a mile a minute, think thats what it is? And exactly how is XR different from the standard ones?
 
It doesnt sound he is describing going up and coming down. Just some days while on speed he is mean and cranky...does this surprise anyone. Yah the dosage may be too high but how long you been taking it. If you just started recently wait for a little tolerance to build (docs prescribe this way sometimes so they don't have to keep upping the dose)
 
Adderall XR is in capsule form, kind of like dexedrine. Half of the beads in the capsule are instant release and the other half are dissolved 6 hours later. So the XR is a 12hr acting, once a day formulation. You can always give it a shot and see if you like it better. Most psychs are starting to switch people on adderall over to the XR formula. The only downside is that the largest size is 30mg.
