Hypothetical Peyote Question

I suspect very little, the dose for peyote is like 10-20 buttons if I remember correctly, even if that is for ones 5 cm in diameter. Hypothetically, I'd leave that cactus well alone and invest in some san pedro tissue (fresh, dried, powdered, whatever) and prepare that accordingly.

WE ALL KNOW IT IS YOU.

You would trip, what do you think? You need quite a bit of cactus, but if that buttons are large enough, you only need ~4-5 to have a good time. A "dose is like 250mg of mescaline, so keep that in mind. The % by weight is from 5-15% and sometimes higher, so you better have a button that weighs at least 10 grams, hopefully more.

Where are you getting this? It's more like 1% - for fresh tissue 0.5% and for dried around 5% tops maybe. That means you should have 25 grams of cactus.

I know San Pedro can range from .5% up to 10%. There are many people who have gotten even higher yields by stressing the cactus/ grafting peyote buttons onto san pedro, etc...

I just checked. Wiki says up to 6% in the wild when the buttons are dried, and many people claim they can double yields be carefully stressing the cactus.

I never said it wasn't me, its a hypothetical question, never said i had one in the post or anything. Just a nice friendly "what if" question. Lets not beat around the bush, this suckers 70 quid, no bugger wants to piss that kind of money down the drain.

What im saying - this comes in fresh, someone cuts the roots off and scoffs the lot - what we saying, worth 70 nicker for a first time on the stuff ?

edit : It would be stressed when some bugger goes at it with a Global Vedge Chopper.

Personally I would not harvest a single peyote in the hope that I would be in the far upper side of the potency spectrum. Not very realistic IMO, more like wishful thinking.

No, not worth it if you ask me. I already said what I would do: invest that money in San Pedro or Peruvian Torch. Yes they contain a slightly different set of alkaloids but at least they contain enough to produce an effect. You have to prepare them though, I would not want to eat a foot of cactus as a snack, it tastes really foul.

Go for the extraction, you just cannot cut corners with this stuff.

Its not like its taken from the wild, its UK grown - come on, the guy I'm talking about isn't a total tosser.

btw, hes not trying to cut corners, you loose bits doing that :D

Who said anything about the wild? It was only mentioned regarding potency. Other than that it is an unethical thing to get this from the wild.

I was not accusing anyone of cutting corners either. I had san pedro powder and I did cut corners: I tried to cook it up with lemon juice and ended up with a soup dish full of slime. It was virtually impossible to down in totality.

You can freeze-thaw to break open the plant cells, extract the mescaline with acid-base or alcoholic solvent, then reduce to get an extract. And optionally purify to get a great product.

This question has been asked lots of times before (no offense) and I don't think I ever heard a convincing argument to pay jackpot for a single peyote button other than to grow it as a novelty. Kind of makes me want to conclude the thread, but I will resist for now. ;)

Yeah sry mate, I'm pretty deep into the voddie (and a bit of Bacardi), just trying to get a bead on the stuff as its one of the last substances on my mates "hit list"

He reliably informs me that if the cactus works that he will plant & grow 5 seeds in its honor.

He just dont want to waste 70 brick on bugger all, looking for heavy trip, very experienced in LSD & shrooms fyi.

What is more important, that it's the genuine peyote type checked off of the hit list? Or to experience mescaline? Let me tell you, I have had synthetic mescaline and after that I did not really care that it was not in any genuine ethnobotanical form. I would try cactus preparations give the opportunity but if I were to give your friend advice I'd say (once again) go on the hunt for San Pedro or Trichocereus Peruvianus.

He's not bothered if its natural or synthetic, just want to experience mescaline. Basically, just trying to lay hands on some at the moment.
