hypo versus hyperventilation?

So, I did something I regret tremendously -- I've been trialing a low dose of Riluzole for anxiety, which I've noticed has made my breathing somewhat shallower, though this is also accompanied by signs of overactivation (muscle tension, anxiety etc.), so I'm not sure if it's anxiety-mediated.

Anyway, I rarely leave the house due to crippling anxiety, but was forced to attend a social engagement this evening. I ended up taking Dexedrine, a low dose of clonidine for anxiety, and then (without planning to) had 4-5 drinks and 2 cigarettes.

While walking home, I noticed my breathing felt more labored and shallow. I'm not nodding out or anything, but am instead vaguely biting my tongue and feel otherwise alert -- so again, I can't tell if this is hyper or hypoventilation.

Anyway, my family would utterly kill me if I went to emergency for this and had to admit what I did, particularly if it turned out to be nothing ..

So, I was just wondering if there were any warning signs I should watch out for? Should I try stay awake for the next hour or two? Again, it's almost like my chest feels too tight to draw satisfying breath, which I figured was more anxiety-related, so took some Doxylimine to try and relax, though I am scared to fall asleep
