First time self-IVing, at home, took proper precautions (Aside from using a micron filter :/). It must be a pretty small needle, it's an old needle that I opened today..not sure if "25G x xxxx" is the size of the actual needle... anyway it went in easy and painless for self-IV.. but I missed twice and gave up.

Got 2 bubbles that went away in an hour of time, so did the redness and soreness.

Was wondering if there's a way to not shake when youre trying to IV, lol.... any mental training you can do to not shake?

I'm still buzzed off these dillies as of now, plugging and snorting.

Try breathing exercises before doing it. Get a micron filter too. My local needle exchange has sterilefits that work well to filter and give a clear solution.... You might have one near you too.

Edit: I second that advice. Getting into as rested position as possible is important. Even sitting along a table or something to rest your arm on could help.

I will see about that. and I will try these when I feel like trying again.

I actually got an extremely clear solution, to the human eye, with only 1 filter use, and this is my first time prepping...

The first time i shot up i was shakin like a mf too, but it does go away after a few sessions. The uneasiness around the needle gets replaced with obsession for it quickly enough.

Youll get over it... Not that it is a good thing

It takes some time to get all the coordination down, but it usually within a few weeks, most people get it. I initially focused on harm reduction since I was so anxious about hurting myself somehow.

And as others have said, the area being injected into needs to be resting.

Taking a hot shower will make all your veins pop out and it makes it really easy to hit. Also make sure you pull up blood to make sure you're in the vein.

Trust me I thought I had a pretty clear solution with cotton, but I learned what clear is with a micron filter. You may not see the big difference, but you feel it with missed shots going away faster and less pain.

My hands permanently shake.. I haven't found a good solution yet.. I just try and inject stuff quick. Been IV'n close to 15 years now and I still basically suck at it, because I shake so much. Do your hands always shake, or just when you're trying to IV? Mine always shake, but if yours is just a nerves thing when you're IV'n.. I suppose you'll get over it eventually.. if you stay down this 'awesome' path.

I generally have fine motor control issues and shake on fine movements. Besides cannabis helping just take your time and breath. It should help

My first few times were, a learning experience lol. Veins in your feet roll and ones in your hand swell. If you're like me, (not very veiny) arms, you're kind of limited on spots you even feel remotely comfortable with trying to hit.

I practiced a few times with a lifht Roxy mix, 100 units on a 30, and would try with around 15-20 each time, for whatever reason that seemed better then just water to me lol

i would also do a few push ups or if possible bicep curls to encourage some cooperation from the veins. I was never a fan of tying off. Make sure to use the smallest gauge/higher number needle, 31 gauge 100 or 30 cc insulin shortys won't hardly ever give you a problem unless you try and make it too thick.

just practice pulling back with one hand and keeping steady, it sucks to waste a shot cause you pushed through or pulled out after registering lol, good luck

Rest the arm youre going to be using on your leg to steady it. Rest.your injecting hand on your forearm. All the advice on getting your veins to pop will also help.

It should be noted that the rush from IV dillies is great, but the high is weak.and lasts a couple hours at most. Because of this, it can turn into a really brutal habit, and after feeling the rush you probably won't ever be satisfied with any other ROA again...

Man, I really want to preach and say "Quit now!" but I would be a huge hypoceite if I did that. I have been on pain meds for 14 years and never ever abused until like 8 months ago. Wtf, right?! Well I injected dilaudid, but for better pain control, as I cant get buzzed off it anymore. Anyway, 1 time turned to 2 and 3 and 10 and then 50 etc. I am trying hard to kick it though.

Btw, the more tense you are and nervous, the more likely you will miss the vein because theh will retract if youre nervous and shake etc. Just some fyi.

Yea, I actually haven't been able to do this... I don't "plan it", however, I chase a good opiate high >.>, who the hell doesn't.

Sitting on a rig right now, I feel like I would rather have a friend poke me... no opiates though :/ broke as a joke.

A true friend will not poke you.At least an experienced one wont... no friend would put you on that path. If you're hell bent on IV, watch some videos. Tie off. Use a new needle. Hep C is a bitch. Either abandon this or do it right; abscesses are no fun either, and track marks are difficult to hide.

Yea.. I would use my own needles and sanitary precautions if I had someone poke me. I just know certain people who have techniques. I'm sure I could find someone who has been literally taught to do this, like a nurse... but I don't come across too many who would be willing to poke me.

You're right, my drug hook ups and people who are around aren't really my friends. I never considered them to be :P.

edit - I am very sanitary and strict about procedure, but when it comes down to the main-action..nope.

I have probably saved lives telling people advice, I've seen some stupid ass shit.. :/
