Hey,

I have recently come across some Hydromorph cotin 18mg pills, (ones with the capsule full of white beads). I have never had any luck with these in the past and always resorted to eating them which is a complete waste. Questions are as follows:
1. How can I defeat these little annoying beads?
2. Once, the beads have been broken can I snort it? Also, could I shoot it?
3. What is the equivalence of 18mg hydromorph cotin (snorted or injected) relative to oxycotin

Crush the beads with a card against a counter top or similar hard smooth surface.

DO NOT for any reason, inject a crushed extended release pill. The binders and fillers are not exactly something you want to introduce in to your circulatory system. Trying to extract the hydromorphone out and drawing it up though a filter is wasteful.

Snort it, the prolonged time in contact with your moist muscosa will release the hydromorphone from the binders effectively.

yea but they don't have the intranasal conversion, only oral and IV.. So I'm just wondering:
1. are the beads crushable?
2. what would be the equivalence of 18mg of hydromorph contin to oxycodone (intranasal/snorting)?
3. can you shoot these pills?

Okay so what I've read online is that IV injection = 100% bioavailability for hydromorphone, and that intranasal = 50% bioavailability, the conversion of 18mg hydromoprhone IV = 240mg oxycodone oral, so if intrasal is 50% bioavailability while IV is 100%, all i do is take the 100% hydromorphone IV to oxycodone oral equivalence and divide by 2. So it seems like snorting a 18mg hydromorphone is equivalent to 120mg of oxycodone. Does that make sense?

Rolling pin (erm.. or wine bottle.. hehe) and flier/takeaway menu works well! As does a pestle and mortar if you want to be fancy.

I got a pill crusher from the pharmacy works like a charm. Some powder gets lost in the grinder but i use a small make up brush (my gf's) and it gets out all the powder that could have potentially been lost in it. Can you shoot these pills? I've been snorting them and seem to get a nice high, is there any othermethods for which you get more out of? IV? how is rectal administration compared to snorting?

As previously noted several times in this thread: you do NOT want to IV ER medications.

I throw them into my "Magic Bullet" and within 30 secs to less than a minute they turn into powder. The only reason I choose to do this is because Hydromorph contin 18mg suck for acute pain! So this verses taking them as directed is a much quicker way to get right to the pain. The only thing that I'm getting really worried about lately is what are these crushed up beads doing to my sinuses? I'm feeling pretty clogged up in the morning, as I'm prescribed 3 a day...

the wax is not very good for your nose, you can separate the hydro from the wax but it takes a while and you will lose some product

Could you crush beads, mix with water, filter with cotton, then micron filter that solution for IV? Just curious.

once you mix with water im pretty sure it gels up badly. you could try that if you micron filter but theres no guarantee how much you may lose

Nope they don't gel up at all. It's the beads that act as the time release and crushing them is a pain for sure. I get the 18mg hydromorphs on occasion and this is how i crush them:

1. Empty beads into a piece of paper folded so that the beads won't come flying out

2. Get a 10LBS steel weight, place the piece of paper on a very hard flat surface and run it over the piece of paper with the beads until you hear no more crushing

3. Dump out the powder on a flat hard surface and place a credit card or some other card over the powder and use the weight to crush the powder to bits

This whole process takes maybe 5-10 mins and is alot easier then ripping up your hands by trying to crush them in a pill crusher
