Opioids Hydrocodone Withdrawal (Need reassurance)

For the last 4.5 months I've been taking between 40-60mg of Hydrocodone (Norco 10/325) once daily. I have a very intense job and I'm freaking myself out about how bad the withdrawals are going to be (don't want to be useless at work). I've come down from similar amounts in the past but my usage was for a much shorter duration; usually never exceeding 4-6 weeks.

Does the fact that I'm using only once daily help my chances for a "less painful" withdrawal? I am being a wuss about this and hoping that someone chimes in to convince me that this will be easier than I'm making it out to be.

I'm also wondering if I should cold turkey from this amount or consider taking 1 10mg pill before bed each evening as a type of taper.

Sorry for not putting more thought in to this post. Just looking for some reassurance that I can do this.

P.S. Everyone talks about how exercise is one of the best cures for opiate withdrawal. If withdrawal causes high blood pressure, and exercising with high blood pressure is generally a bad thing...can exercise be considered dangerous during withdrawals??

lol yeaaaa i think your just freaking yourself out man... 60mg isnt that much at all... as for taking it all at once tho, IMO would prob make it worse since your gona feel the buzz more then if you spaced it thoughout the day.... and yea tapering off always makes stopping easier then going cold turkey... but i wouldnt expect you to be in terrible WDs, mabe some sleeplessness, iritablity, but shouldnt go much past that... you may even wana try taking 5mg before bed and in the morning... as far as the exercising goes, when i was goin through WDs i could barely get outa bed, but i was comming off a prety healthy H habit also... but just going for a walk did help as the WDs lessened... IDK about lifting weights and all that but honestly youll prob be ok cause i know my blood pressure never got to outa wack ( i was in a detox facility and they took it three times a day) but if it you do go through bad WDs you can always go to the ER and ask em for a clonodine patch, it took away a good 90% of the WD symptoms for me and is pretty standard at any facility for opiate WD.... you have any more questions you can shoot me a PM or im sure other ppl on here will post and help ya out.... good luck man

Thanks for responding man. My thinking was that since I'm only taking the pills once a day...most of the day is spent without the drug in my system. Hence reducing the severity of the withdrawals.

I can go a while after 24 hours, for example, without feeling many symptoms. The main one is lethargy.

Bump...what do you guys think? I went 27 hours and took 35mg just so I can be talkative and awake at a party we're having this evening. The main symptom I had was depression/lethargy.

If I'm going over 24 hours and just feeling really tired/depressed...can I expect things to get much worse than that considering my relatively low dosage habit?

I doubt it. You'll be relatively fine. If you can just sleep through the minor withdrawels that's even better, just take a nap when you're feeling too lethargic to function.

Thanks. Coffee or any type of caffeine during withdrawal is generally a bad idea, right? I wouldn't want to conjure any anxiety.

While it certainly doesn't help with the anxiety it will help a little with the tiredness so it's a balance you have to strike for yourself. What has more priority? Not feeling tired or not feeling a little extra on edge?

yea but the thing is 24hrs isnt all that long and sometimes, depending on how much of the drug you took, not long enough for WD symptoms to show up.... there have been plenty of times that ive done a nice shot of H and would be good for 36hrs til i started feeling sick... but it doesnt sound like you going through that sever of WD...

Hydrocodone has a shorter half-life than heroin though.

Your w/d won't be too bad. Expect to be tired and a bit depressed. Some insomnia and rls but you could always take 5-10mg before bed so you can sleep( or use benzos but not too much). After a week of that I would just quit everything.

Coffee always gives me anxiety during w/d so it's not worth the hour of focus it gives.

if you NEED to, do a small taper so you can be relatively comfortable at work. i don't know the exact dosage on that would be though.
