I don't want the admins' to come erase this quickly because of how it sounds right off, but this is not a juvenile post. I mean for real meaningful discussion. I am curious for one, as to why in the US there is high strength extended and immediate release oxycodone products, but the hydrocodone products are always combined with another active ingredient, and are never used in high mg doses. They had oxycontin 160 mg pills, but hydrocodone never got past like 10mg as far as I know. I'm curious to know why hydrocodone isn't used in larger dosages as a legitimate opiate for severe pain.

I think they want to keep hydro/apap schedule III and not have it attract attention the way oxy has.

To save opioid abuser's lives.

Hydrocodone causes anaphylaxis and potential shock if IV'd, at higher miligrams, in the same way as codeine (and why codeine is not usually perscribed without APAP). APAP makes it an emulsion, and if one is not erudite enough to do the simple extraction to get out the tylenol, and know that much, they may know enough about the dangers of IV'ing hydrocodone & codeine to not do so at high doses because of their terminal dosing capacity if nothing else due to greatened potential fatality.

i've heard that in europe they have formulations of "hydrocontin" (not necessarily under that name) of 40 or 80mg hydrocodones? does anybody know if this is true? that would be my dream come true, i find hydrocodone to be a wayy nicer buzz than oxycodone. oxycodone is too stimulating for me, hydrocodone gives me the nicest nods<3

and so doctors can write refills for it :)

I don't think they care about opioid abuser's lives...or at least opioid abuser's livers. If they did, 5/500 Vicodin (those damn M357s, the reason I'm an opioid addict now) would not have ever existed.
