hydrocodone tolorance

I have been experimenting with vicodin the past few weeks. I have done my reading on the drug and decided a good base does would be 20mgs of vicodin (5 5/500 pills) I have taking up to 5 pills three or four times with no real results. I have no opiate tollerance. The only thing that might have effects is that I am taking Paxil. I have read that this medication can lessen the effects of hydrocodone, but in most cases does not have an effect.


What do you think of this?
 
Not an expert, but I think if you look for some of the threads fairnymph did in OD and Health, you may find some anti-depressants, because of impact on serotonin and dopamine, very well might lessen euphoria expected from opioids. BTW, that's a load for an opioid-naive person to take with no effect.
 
I was taking paxil and vicodin -- and it didn't have any sort of negating effect.

So I think you have just what you suggested: a tolerance. It's what happens when you keep using hydrocodone. A few months into my last run, the dosage you're taking wouldn't have made a nick in my mental state. So I upped the dosage, and upped it some more, and then more. If I was eating vicodin, I'd eat 15 twice a day. That's what it took. (I'd take a handful when I got to work and a handful when I got home.)

Not that I'm advising you do this -- I stronglly advise against it. You're ingesting a lot of APAP when you take so many pills, and that alone will make you sick. And eventually you're going to have to kick -- and it sucks. Better to quit while you're ahead.

Wudan--- you thought 20 mgs would be a good first dose, but yet am I correct you said you took 5 5/500 that makes 25 mg's not 20, those 5 extra can make a diff.
 
How much use over those weeks? Heh if you're talking 20mg a day (or more) every day than yeah after a couple of weeks your tolerance will be pretty dang high. I bet if you take 30 it'll feel just as good but be careful with that APAP...
