I'm taking Hydrocodone for Scoliosis correction pain and lately since i've been taking it, (About 3 months) My vision has gotten horrible. I was told that it was the Hydrocodone by my doctor, but he didn't explain it very well. Could someone please inform me why this happens?

Thanks,

-Brian

If you close one eye does it improve? Opioids and other sedatives commonly cause diplopia (double vision).

It kind of improves when I close one eye. It's just really strange. Everything that I could normally is just hard to see. Why is it that opiates cause Diplopia?

Sorry I can't give you a scientific answer, but thats the way it works. Your pupil's shrink, and the higher the dose the more Diplopia. ("Eye wiggles", in higher doses).

Opiates cause instability in your eye muscles that align your eyes to the same position. And you may notice the wiggly eyes you get, or the double vision. Even as far as it knocking your eyes so far out of alignment that you become temporarily blind. It is not rare for this to happen. It takes tolerance to get used to these effects, and they won't nearly effect you as hard.

Thank you!!! Not gonna lie Psychedelic Jay, you should be a mod!!
