THIS week’s Economist-YouGov poll contains some exciting news for devotees of the weed. A huge majority of Americans, more than two to one once don’t knows have been excluded, support the legalisation and taxation of marijuana. Even without excluding the don’t knows, a clear majority favours treating the drug equivalently to tobacco and alcohol.

If our poll is right, then it can only be a matter of time before laws start to change, at least in the more liberal states.

so what happened in the california recent vote ?

could it possibly have been rigged then ?

I don't think it was rigged, I read there were even some MMJ dispensary owners/operators/customers that voted against it for some reason or another...

The voting electorate is skewed towards old people compared to the general population, especially in non presidential election years.

CA has too many growers making money. We need to find a state demographic that doesn't grow much but is lenient towards growers. I say Washington or Oregon are more likely to legalize first.

i live in socal, and as i posted in politics:

the marijuana legalization wasn't really legalization iirc. it was a "it's still illegal, but sometimes it's not" bill. it was terrible and it's great news that it was shot down.

^^THIS.

We would all be screwed if that bill had passed. They say that we voted not to legalize weed. If that was all there was to it I am confident it would have been voted for by the majority. We are lucky that enough people read and understood the meaning of the bill not to vote for it.
