Huh... I feel quite the opposite. The heroin around here is of such unbelievable purity -- a real fine, soft, white, tan or grey powder, mixing up beautifully with that ginger-ale color, smelling strongly of vinegar and tasting so extremely bitter; in fact, if you happen to believe the DEA, then around here in the tri-state area the dope has consistently tested at about 70% - 75%

So the dope itself is actually a lot less disgusting than many people might like to believe. As for what the drug will do or could do to an individual's life, well, yeah, admittedly, heroin does not have the best reputation and the drug has no doubt helped many a person to destroy their lives. But what exactly makes heroin so much more disgusting than, say, alcohol? Certainly alcohol has ruined as many lives as heroin, no? And what about cocaine? The gasoline and all of the chemicals that go into making cocaine... that's disgusting

I guess that, in the scheme of things and all things considered, I just don't consider heroin to be all that disgusting...
 
^I agree. For sure.

Dope can eat you up but that's on the individual. Lots a people are disgusting. Some aren't. It's.... Subjective.
 
The hard lifestyle with heavy chronic drug use is disgusting. A drug is just a drug. I read a post by someone that was like ppl think heroin is some black sticky ball you cook down in a burned bent spoon then inject to an abcessed spot on your arm with a dirty old rusty spike lol. The dope around here (well raw dope) is exactly as said above, high purity, clean light tan or grey stinky rock that would drop an unexperienced user like a fly lol.
 
i happened to stop into the library earlier today to print and copy some things and noticed there was a guy passed out head down on the table in front of the computers. his time ran out on the comp and so when it assigned another person the guy came over to use the comp and sees this guy nodded out on the desk, eventually the librarian came over bc i think they guy waiting on the comp didnt know what to do lol so the woman wakes the nodded guy out and is like sir your times has expired and he was all confused and shit lol, she was like you have to stay awake in the library, are you ok? he was just kinda quiet like yeah im fine, and said excuse me to the guy waiting and kind of hastily made his exit lol poor guy, he was younger looking so im sympathetic to seeing something like that. would have made a mediocre submission to tgoh, but i wouldnt disrespect my fellow junkies by outing their pic on the interwebz

I wrote that post lol and it's true. If you've never seen the real thing before and you've only seen heroin and how heroin is done as it's depicted in the movies, well then that would be the impression you would most likely have; and while some heroin (black tar) and some heroin users fit that description (dirty spikes and an abscessed arm), it isn't universal.

Yea libraries are common-place for a lot of users living on the streets. I found dope through someone that I approached at the library after the second time I saw him nodding out hard on the computers. He was able to get fire real quick and was cool with me just tossing him 1 bag since I helped him out a few times with returning some items for cash.

True. Baltimore is like any city. Also, keep in mind the wire was about drugs, crime, corruption, etc. all designed for a serialized TV viewing audience to get people to keep watching new episodes.

I went to the site and I agree some of the people are on dope, some are passed out drunk, and some are on benzos/methadone.
 
The "witty" comments where really unnecessary, I find this fascinating not funny. It comes off as exploitation.

around my city all you see is the occassional meth heads all stimmed out. If I saw a junkie almost sleepin like that I'd ask where they got their pack :\
