So as many people know loperamide can get a real game changer in battle opiate/opioid withdrawal. It appears that the most common question people ask is about dosage. So if anyone can just say what their opiate habit was (e.g: Oxy 80mg, bth .5g every 2 days, etc) and then what amount of loperamide they took to quell their symptoms. I believe we could get a very helpful thread going so that people don't OVERDOSE on lope trying to get their dose right. Any pertinent information fellow posters think should be added by all means do so!

I would start extremely small, either 16mg or 32mg. Higher doses may be needed, but tread lightly because it dehydrates you and dries your mouth out incredibly bad.

Don't ever, ever attempt to get high on Immodium, we have lost members because of this. Imagine your loved ones finding out that you died trying to chase a shitty high from a medicine designed to make you stop shitting so much.

Remember loperamide takes time to kick in. I didn't feel full relief for up to 5 hours, so don't keep dosing thinking it isn't working. 32mgs is a good start for a decent habit then think about maybe 4-8mgs more in 3 hours if you aren't starting to feel better. Also it has a long half life so don't take more until you really need it or it will build up in your system and you will be on a larger dose than intended.

The safe way to do it is just like with any other drug. Start low and work your way up. You should never base your dosage on what somebody else says they took... everyones body is different, and what affected one person one way, could affect somebody else totally different.. so there is no standard.. if a member comes here and says, he was doing 200mg's of oxy a day and then 80mg's of loperamide worked for him, that doesn't mean it will for you too, even if you were also doing 200mg's of oxy a day.. you still need to start low and build yourself up.

The good thing about loperamide, is that for opiate tolerant people, it is very hard to overdose on.

Yeah, that's why I thought maybe this would be a good idea so people could then help use people's suggestions (not as a guide) on what they were using and what helped for them but...

I can see what Mr Scag is getting at. It just seems like with the long onset time for the Lopes, to me, it would seem that starting low and working up to a comfortable level would take a very long time! Which when you are sick and wanting relief; time moves so fast.

Ultimately, so people don't take too much or to help them take an appropriate dosage... that's all but I guess the only person who can figure that out is said person... IDK I just thought maybe it'd be a good idea for HR since the recent accidental deaths with Lope. :/

^^^

Those accidental deaths were a real rarity, and only happened because non tolerant people, stupidly attempted to get high on a known to be non-recreational OTC drug.. Hah.

That would not happen for somebody with even a mediocre opiate tolerance.

Even with an opiate tolerance you don't want to be on too high a dose. Loperamide has it's own special withdrawal which can be mostly negated with short use time (measured in weeks at most a month or two) and proper tapering. Jumping off at 60 - 100mgs will break your face. There are side effects too. On very high doses your mouth and throat gets so dry it feels like you've been chugging sand. It also caused me to get stuffed up and be unable to breathe properly while I slept. Not to the point of being dangerous but to the point of waking myself up at night. As far as the onset time you just need to suck it up. The same thing happens to me with bupe, it kicks in slightly faster but I still don't feel 100% until the next day. Take your dose of Lope, jump in a hot shower and wait it out. When you increase do it by small increments and try to stay under 100 mgs a day (This is only for the more severe users, a normal medium sized habit should be good on half of that the first day and progressively less each day until stable at closer to 20-30 mgs the first week).
