How to test if meth is fake

I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place. I'm new to the site and just figuring out how to even post. There is a ton of bad food going around in my town right now. They're mixing fake stuff that turns black, is very liquid, and tastes like. Donkeys dirty ... Well it's horrid. It also has very bad dehydration, headache, bad taste in mouth heart racing and chest and lungs hurting very badly. Problem is, it's mixed in with stuff that's not fake. I hate to throw it all out as money is right, and well, ya know, lol. Any way I can differentiate between the good and the bad? It all looks pretty much the same. Thanks for any advice. If you have it in front of you, there's a test where dropping a piece in bleach and seeing if it spins out or not. The good stuff will spin out of control, you can see videos online if you search for them.

Otherwise, telling by visuals is unreliable because the same things that indicate additives can also happen due to conditions when the crystal is growing, like strange layering or cloudy, which doesn't always mean impure.

And even if something is "95% pure", that could mean that all 95% is of the L-isomer which is mostly not euphoric and just makes you shakey.

So you could get a nice looking batch that is all trash, or a strange looking batch that is mostly the right d-isomer with potentially additives that won't affect the high very much.

With drugs like cocaine, they can be cut with almost anything, but in order for crystal meth to form some things just can't be added. So while the additives don't vary as much as other powdered drugs, the purity and potency (2 different things) widely vary. They slightly vary even for consistent cooking methods.

It ia very hard to tell just by looking at it unfortunately. It most likely will be fake if it is anything like it has been in my area lately. Actual methamphetamine has been almost impossible to find for a few years now. These days 90% of what I encouter being sold as meth is some super sketchy 4-methyl stimulant/empathogen that seems unsafe, makes you retarded and is in no way an acceptable replacement for amphetamines... I guess a set of many reagents is probably the best you can do to narrow down what it could be.

Any way I can differentiate between the good and the bad?

Not really.

You can do a quick presumptive test for methamphetamine with something as simple as the Marquis Reagent. But it won’t indicate what parentage of the sample is meth or what the adulterants are, it’s also prone to false positive from substances with similar structures. Obviously, there are analytical chemistry techniques that would tell you everything you need to know but they’re prohibitively expensive.

A better course of action maybe an attempt to “wash” out as much of what ever cuts/adulterants that are present to cleanup what you have. A simple methanol separation & acetone wash would probably give the best results. Plenty of info on forum covering the subject (good & not so good) if you have questions open a thread in Other Drugs.
