Are there any ways to see if you are allergic to a pill before you take it? like home allergy test remedies? Could i rub methadone on my arm and see if it makes me itch or something like that?

That would be one way, taking a very small amount (like 1/100th of a dose) is another common option.

Generally if you are allergic to a drug you will know.. severe skin rashes, photosensitivity, general malaise, and/or trouble breathing are usually the symptoms. If none of these happen then chances are, you're not allergic.

So if im handling methadone and xanax and i dont have skin rashes or anything im not allergic?

This is prob gonna sound stupid and im misunderstanding, but do you mean literally handling the pills? if so, a rash is not going to form that way, you actually would have to get into your system before an allergic reaction will/won't take place.

I don't think you can assume that, no! Although sometimes if people are allergic to something they get a contact rash, not always - as OsamaBinNoddin said you'd have to ingest the pill to get a full blown allergic reaction. Skin testing involves making pin-pricks in the skin so the substance is introduced to the body that way (and should only be done by a healthcare professional who can interpret the results, before you get any ideas, hehe..)
Most substances can't penetrate through your skin if the skin is intact.

As as been mentioned, typical allergy test involves taking a tiny amount of the substance. Not that easy with pills, I know, but it's the best way. Allergies to xanax and methadone are rare, but do occur of course.

I just took pills and im allergic

Well i just made a thread on how to tell if you're allergic to pills, i tried the stuff they told me and it said i wasnt allergic. Well i took the pills and it turns out i am allergic to one of them. I cant go to the doctor or my parents will know i pop pills what should i do? I need help like really fast because i don't want to die.

1.) You are not qualified to diagnose yourself so you do NOT know if you have an allergy

2.) If you are genuinely concerned, seek medical help. As I said above, you are not a doctor.

3.) You can go to a doctor without your parents finding out.

4.) If you took opioids (you mentioned methadone) they produce a histamine release which mimics common symptoms of allergies.

5.) NO ONE TOLD YOU TO TEST YOURSELF FOR ALLERGIES, they told you how professionals do it and suggested you see a professional to find out. (See effie's post)

Why are you saying you "know" you're allergic?

This is your last warning - stop making multiple threads on the same topic. We went through this last night.

No, you don't know because you're not qualified to diagnose yourself.

IF YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING TO DIE, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. I have to close this because any advice that discourages you from doing so goes against harm reduction.

The fact that you're not a qualified physician makes that quite possible, considering that a histamine reaction and respiratory depression are common side effects for opioids.

Protip: If you feel like you're in danger, call emergency services or get someone to take you to the hospital, don't come on the internet and complain about it.

Protip 2: Don't take random pills if you aren't ready to call emergency services in case of, oh I don't know, an emergency.
