Something I don't think was posted is fiber, I use coarse psyllium husk, the powder fiber gave me painful gas. Used to use the flavored sugared psylllium then did half and half now do all unsweet. I actually find if I make it a little thicker with less water it has less taste to it but a worse texture.
And theres basically 2(or more?) different profiles of microbes in your gut and they've discovered a link between which type make up your flora and weight/body fat. The good kind feed off I think, look it up yourself too, leafy stuff, and the bad one meats, and maybe one feeds up simple sugar or fructose and the other feeds of like fiber or carbs from grains. Oh well I can't remember the details. But I know you need a healthy flora to be healthy. I knew that before they profiled the organisms living in us.
Most days eat a large, but healthy high protein breakfast. Almost no carbs, no toast, no juice. I mean eggs, yogurt, melon, berries, cottage cheese. Wait until you a real hungry again before eating and then eat a very light snack every couple hours until bed. Eat a light, low carb dinner early in the evening and nothing after. Though, if you've done well through the day, drink a protein shake(one with some carbs in it, to refill your stores) right before bed.
But on some days switch it up, eat a light breakfast with some carbs, like some oatmeal, or a bran muffin, or toast with a hard boiled egg, along with a glass of fiber to keep you filled. And again, wait until you are really hungry to eat, and make and drink a small fruit/yogurt smoothie.(premake it if you have to). Then eat like a large salad for dinner, top it with some protein if you are extra hungry(you should be). And eat nothing before bed, drink a glass of fiber.
Always eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and stop before you are too full.
If you can stick to a routine like that for the better part of a week, not only will you lose weight, but your stomach/hunger system adjusts and you won't at all feel hungry and you will have more energy instead of being groggy. It's just evolution, we aren't supposed to eat until we are full everyday. Throughout history man has never had food in this abundance, its triggering biological functions that are working against us. Our bodies are telling us to gorge ourselves and go to sleep every time we open the refrigerator, our bodies don't know the food will still be there tomorrow. Not only that, but when you overeat your body tells you to eat more, once it realizes theres more than enough food around it wants to go into energy storing mode(ie, put on pounds and slow metabolism, maybe sleep). When you eat lightly your body knows you gotta stay on the hunt for more food so it provides you with energy and alertness while suppressing hunger so you don't "waste" the food you have. When you starve yourself your body slows its metabolism down and stores fat, preparing for the long haul.
