How to lose 5+ pounds

^ It's hugely high in sugar, freddy. 1 big glass of juice is around the equivalent of eating 8 or so oranges. If you're trying to trim up, i'd steer clear from it - especially if it's store-bought.

But... but its orange juice lol. Read you loud and clear. How about if its freshly squeezed would that be ok or still a no go? Also does this apply for all juices or just orange juice/store bought juices?

Watching what you eat is more important than how much you eat imo. You can sate a large appetite with healthy foods while cutting out all the other stuff and, if you're going to the gym like you are, lose fat easily. Depending on how much healthy food you eat and what you're doing at the gym you'll either lose weight or replace that fat with muscle(or both). I look for anything that's high in protein and low in fat: Chicken, lean beef, tuna, rice, eggs, etc. and any and all kinds of fruits and vegetables.

If you stick to eating food like that while cutting out the little stuff that adds up(soda pops, candy, fast food) you'll be surprised at how fast you can see results.

Is rice ok? I've cut that out of my diet because I assumed since its full of carbs I should stay away from it. But if I can damn I'm gonna start eating it again.

Also here is what I've been doing at the gym. 15 minutes on the bike as a warm up. 50 crunches on one of those crunch machine thingys at 35 to forty pounds. Another 15 minutes on the bike with no break in between the crunches and the bike. Two 3 minute sets of shadow boxing with 30 second breaks in between sets followed by another 5 or 10 minutes on the bike. Should I be doing the bike work continuously? If so can I do it with a slower pace? Because I just can't maintain a steady pace on the bike for longer than 20 let alone 30 or 40 minutes if I'm going as hard as I can.

Just apply the old "everything in moderation" way of thinking. If you're really hardcore trying to lose weight - cutting out most, if not all sugar is a good thing! If you're exercising lots, you can up the amount of sugar you have. For me, i've had to cut it out completely as it wreaks hell on my tummy :(

I would seriously cut down the amount of fruit juice you have, if you're really trying to lose pounds.

cutting sugar off is one of the best things you can do. Also stop drinking anything that is not water, and that doesn't mean "stop drinking soda", read the label on a gatorade bottle, one glass is like 50 cals, making one small bottle as big a calorie intake as one serving of cereals. Only drink water, it'll be hard at first but you do get used to it. Eat fruit and vegetables and don't eat meat every single day, or really watch how much you eat because most meat is too fatty to be healthy (unless you're hitting the gym daily and very hard)

okey, how about this?
I stopped drinking soda
I do not put sugar on anything
I do cardio about 10 times a week
I eat 5 or 6 small meals
I count calories
I weight train
I never ever ever eat "bad" food (maybe one bite once or twice a week)
I drink a lot of water
I stopped drinking alcohol at all
I eat at least 2 servings of veggies and 4 or more fruits a day
I stopped smoking weed and tobacco (weed gives me the munchies and even if I only have almonds for that I hate that fake hunger feeling and tobacco was getting on the way of my cardio)
I went from eating meat once or twice a day (there wasn't one day in which I didn't eat meat) to eating one serving every two days or so.
If you can think of anything else I probably am doing it.
FYI I never eat less than 1500 cals or more than 3000 cals a day.
I used to be 190 pounds when I started this 5 months ago. Now I am 165 pounds. I am a male and I am 6 ft tall.

WHY DO I STILL HAVE A FAT BELLY, AND WHY DID I STOP LOSING WEIGHT? I am desperate here I wanna have a real meal for once but I won't allow myself until I get a darn flat stomach but fat seems to still hung out even if i am right in the middle of the BMI recommended weight.

EDIT:
And on top of all these, I used to eat tons of food and maintain myself at 190. Now whenever I slip but a little I will find myself not significantly heavier, but with more fat, and this is something other people do notice when I ask, I'm not picturing things

^if you're doing cardio 10x a week, and weight training im gonna assume that you're body is under a fair amount of stress. when you're stressed, your body produces more of a hormone called Cortisol, which contributes to body fat. back when i was a Stim junkie i had more belly fat than i wanted, and ever since i stopped using i've noticed that the amount of fat has gone down pretty noticeably. (stimulants increase Cortisol btw) have you been feeling stressed?

congratulations on the weight loss though btw! :)

Well yeah, a lot of stress, I guess some might be exercise related, but working out actually helps me release the huge amount of stress coming from my family life lately. I know that over doing it it's also a bad thing, plus I stopped a big amph habit which had kept me going from my usual 180 down to 170 and up to 190 again every week end... I guess I'll have to give my body some time to get used to being healthy, plus trying to ease myself from my family problems. Thanks I didn't know that cortisol thing.

very interesting to read about cortisol, didnt know about that. thanks for the info :)

i can relate to exercise's effect on stress from family life. and if thats the case than to be honest i might not even cut down the working out since IMO it helps a ton, its your choice though :\ best of luck! :)

oh and Max does working out so often noticeably affect your mood?
i've been told/read that working out fights depression but it doesnt seem do anything for me :(

exercising has been great help. I feel a lot better physically and mentally. Although this thing about my belly is so darn frustrating. I'm probably transferring other worries into my shape but still is awfully worrying. I'd recommend exercise over any drug to overcome stress. No doubt.

thanks for that link Addictive :)
and alright Max, just hang in there :)

one of the posters in ED talks about how exercising increases NGF (nerve-growth factor) which basically improves neurotransmitter/brain function i guess. ill look for some links and post em in the thread you link AP :)

Something I don't think was posted is fiber, I use coarse psyllium husk, the powder fiber gave me painful gas. Used to use the flavored sugared psylllium then did half and half now do all unsweet. I actually find if I make it a little thicker with less water it has less taste to it but a worse texture.

And theres basically 2(or more?) different profiles of microbes in your gut and they've discovered a link between which type make up your flora and weight/body fat. The good kind feed off I think, look it up yourself too, leafy stuff, and the bad one meats, and maybe one feeds up simple sugar or fructose and the other feeds of like fiber or carbs from grains. Oh well I can't remember the details. But I know you need a healthy flora to be healthy. I knew that before they profiled the organisms living in us.

Most days eat a large, but healthy high protein breakfast. Almost no carbs, no toast, no juice. I mean eggs, yogurt, melon, berries, cottage cheese. Wait until you a real hungry again before eating and then eat a very light snack every couple hours until bed. Eat a light, low carb dinner early in the evening and nothing after. Though, if you've done well through the day, drink a protein shake(one with some carbs in it, to refill your stores) right before bed.

But on some days switch it up, eat a light breakfast with some carbs, like some oatmeal, or a bran muffin, or toast with a hard boiled egg, along with a glass of fiber to keep you filled. And again, wait until you are really hungry to eat, and make and drink a small fruit/yogurt smoothie.(premake it if you have to). Then eat like a large salad for dinner, top it with some protein if you are extra hungry(you should be). And eat nothing before bed, drink a glass of fiber.

Always eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and stop before you are too full.

If you can stick to a routine like that for the better part of a week, not only will you lose weight, but your stomach/hunger system adjusts and you won't at all feel hungry and you will have more energy instead of being groggy. It's just evolution, we aren't supposed to eat until we are full everyday. Throughout history man has never had food in this abundance, its triggering biological functions that are working against us. Our bodies are telling us to gorge ourselves and go to sleep every time we open the refrigerator, our bodies don't know the food will still be there tomorrow. Not only that, but when you overeat your body tells you to eat more, once it realizes theres more than enough food around it wants to go into energy storing mode(ie, put on pounds and slow metabolism, maybe sleep). When you eat lightly your body knows you gotta stay on the hunt for more food so it provides you with energy and alertness while suppressing hunger so you don't "waste" the food you have. When you starve yourself your body slows its metabolism down and stores fat, preparing for the long haul.

cut out empty carbs....don't eat desserts (no nutritional value whatsoever) drink alot of water...don't eat right before you go to bed (unless it's like pure protien)....uuhhhh....exercise (mainly cardio or weight lifting with low weight/high reps)...and yeah!!!

Oh yeah...use meth...HAHAHA JUST JOKING JUST JOKING!

I remember so well those days when I would binge on amphs until I was skin and bones, then binge on food just to recover SOME of the weight.. Well, staying alive has it's ups and downs,, whatever I'll stick to coffee :/

A quick and easy solution is to drink 8 oz water before every meal. It fills you up and speeds up your metabolism
