Hi everyone,

I have been reading on the ADD forum for a few weeks now. Lots of people are talking about how x functional group allows passage through the BBB, or which metabolites may or may not be psychoactive for different compounds. Can anyone suggest a good source to start learning about this stuff?

A little about me:
I am a first year medical student, thus I have a few hours of o-chem, biochem and physiology under my belt, but my knowledge is pretty basic since my undergrad wasn't in science. We don't do pharm until next year. Of course, I have a particular interest in the chemistry of psychoactives probably for the same reasons you all do. Any suggestions on where to start reading? Favorite texts maybe?

De Nada Senor. :) Hope they help. College and Careers also has a "I want to learn Pharmacology" mega-thread as well. Don't know how useful it is but might be worth a look.

An excellent review is Bluelight's Neuropharmacology Text. Go to the last page of the relevant sticky thread atop this forum and you'll find a link to the PDF.

Also, go to pirate bay or whatever and search the phrase "Great Science Textbooks DVD Library 2007". This (and its multiple supplements) will give you several thousand good texts, which you can cherrypick.

They also index a torrent for Kaplan's 3-billion-page USMLE course.
