Opioids How to get Pain Management Dr to understand i need an increase in meds

From doctors I personally have known; the healthcare system is mess. It has been declining in quality over the decades, and is ridiculously expensive.

I grew up in a small town 2000 pop. The doctor didn’t take insurance. He was in his office Monday, took Tuesday off, Wednesday and Friday he made house calls. Office visits were $15 and he had a pharmacy at his office. House visits were $20 and I remember when I was a kid in early 70’s he would come into my bedroom with a Merit cigarette hanging out of his mouth and diagnose me with bronchitis. He would go out to his car and come back in with strong cough medicine and a 10 day antibiotic shot.
$20 in 1972 was like $150 in 2026. My mother was secretary for the President of the bank. Whenever Dr Dysart came into the bank he would wait till Mr Keenan (bank president) to come down to the teller booth and he would make his deposits to the President. I asked my mother why the President of the bank came down to be teller and my mother said “ you have no idea how much money Dr Dysart has in this bank. Plus he’s on the board of directors.”
I remember when I was out of school on my own. I saw him a lot because if you said you were in pain it was at least Percodan time. But, I owed him like $60 one time. He let me come mow his grass. I put up Christmas lights for him one time. Insurance started to creep in. By the 2000’s you had to have insurance. Then the government got involved with insurance (this isn’t a political post at all. I hate democrats and republicans equally. But, when the government got involved it went straight to hell. Now, nobody wants to touch it. The average joe just has to suck it. I don’t see it ever getting better. Here in NE Tennessee I sold my business in Miami and bought a ranch up here. I am blessed to be in the position that I am. But, we have Ballad Healthcare as a monopoly. There are a lot of poor people in these mountains. Ballad Health took 11,650 people to small claims court over bills as small as $100. Yeah. Disgusting 🤮

This is just a guess but I’d say the doctor cut you down to 120 a month is because Oxys are to be taken every 6 hrs, that’s 4 per day multiply by 30 days equals 120 pills,,Giving a patient 30 xtra pills per month is/was a mistake that needed to be corrected..

It’s just a guess but I betcha that’s the reason…
They don't last 6 hrs after you have been on them for a longish time. They didn't in the beginning either. Hydrocodone is equal to morphine and lasts longer but Oxy is 1.5 times as strong, euphoric and hits pain deeper( aka it deals with pain better) I have done the Oxy vs Hydro comparison ( prescribed) and Hydro lasts longer than Oxy and that 4 per day assumes sleep.

I have insomnia so I Know that 5 a day would be much better, if you really need them. Also over time the duration of the lenght of pain relief seems to decrease( along with tolerance issues).
