any suggestions other than meds? is there anyway to control them or hinder or even lesson the severity of them? For instance, you know you're stuck in a manic episode, what do you do?

"Quick give me 20 cc's of Bob Marley and Cannabis" and then I just trivialize whatever it is disturbing me until it evaporates.

Well a fast acting anti-psychotic such as zyprexa as a example combined with a benzo is the usual standard treatment for a acute manic episode in my experience. Exercise does help especially while your waiting for the meds to kick in. As for Cannabis a strong indica does help my manic episodes but for some people Cannabis can make any mental illness worse. So i would honestly say to see a doctor if you haven't already and get it treated. You aren't going to will yourself out of a manic episode.

How about having a good friend who you trust around? Even if they aren't with you physically you can text them often during the day, or call or get in touch somehow, and their input could help you get your head together to an extent and keep your actions grounded even if your thoughts aren't... like running ideas by them instead of just going out and doing them.
