Hi,
a week ago I opened another thread, in which I wrote about my mental exhaustion and the (perceived) non existent effect of my daily use of d/l -amphetamines (2x 10 mg/d) after a prolonged working period (2 months).

Unfortunately I'm now in the situation that I need to finish my university stuff this month or I'm ultimately failing reaching my degree.
So I went to my doctor, and told him, that I'm not able finish my thesis properly if my condition stays like that. He probably misunderstood me, or he is really a retard, but he told me, that I have to do what everybody needs to do: to sit and work :-D ... and upping the amphetamines dose is not recommended.

So after two further days, in which my performance and my mood more and more declined, I thought I must give it a try.... I combined piracetam 1,2g with 10 mg d/l-amphetamines, and the effect was really... strong.

Fortunately I had some choline at home, because I soon noticed headaches kick in.
I worked straight 6 hours, without any pronounced signs of fatigue.

Then I decided to take some melatonin for sleeping, because, I did not want too strongely influence my biorythm and staying awake all night.

Luckily I could sleep. (but the sleep was not the best... probably too stimulated).

Then this morning I had to decide how to proceed further. The doses of 1,2 g piracetam and 10 mg amphetamine seemed to be very good for being being productive in short time. But I feared that this effect would only be for short term. The effect seemed to be so strong that I couldn't imagine that after some days of continued use, this would not lead into the effects (and perhaps my brains) deterioation. I was reading that the combination of amphetamines and piracetam is synergistically and might be neurotoxic, but couldn't find any scientific stuff about that. But anyways, I decided to take 300 mg/day of magnesium additionally and as a single dose 2 times a day only 600 mg and 5 mg of amphetamine.

I really hope this will not lead to stronger tolerance as before and will detriorate my working performance more than before.

If you have experience, how to properly use piracetam, and especially in combination with amphetamines, for studying, I'm happy about any useful advice.

Regards,

Here is a study on piracetams potentiation of methamphetamine in mice:

http://www.rediviva.sav.sk/53i1/27.pdf

As I understand it, piracetams potentiates and enhances the effects of amphetamines, with that said it should require you less amphetamine to acquire the same effect therefore moderating your tolerance.

I've read some places that piracetam is neuroprotective and other places that its neurotoxic. Since its used in dementia and has an implication on NMDA my best bet would be that it's neuroprotective.

Someone with more expertise on the matter can confirm that and help you with dosages.

In our experiment in mice we have confirmed potentiating
effects of piracetam on MET stimulatory actions.
While in acute dose used PIR itself had no stimulatory
effect, it enhanced stimulatory effect of MET.

[...]

In previous studies piracetam indirectly influenced
a number of neurotransmitter systems including dopaminergic
and glutamatergic ones (Gouliaev & Senning
1994). It was shown that piracetam interferes with
level of dopamine in the perfused isolated rat brain by
increasing the K+-stimulated dopamine release (Budygin
et al 1996). Others publications describe changed
levels of dopamine or its metabolite homovanillic
acid in the brain after administration of high doses of
piracetam (Pavlik et al 1987; Petkov et al 1984). However,
studies where lower doses of piracetam were used
showed no significant influence on dopamine system
(Bhattacharya et al 1989).

[...]

Many studies have already
shown that amphetamines as well as other psychostimulants
elevate extracellular levels of glutamate (Del Arco
et al 1998; Gass & Olive 2008). Piracetam is known to
interact with glutamatergic system in a yet not fully
understood way (Gouliaev & Senning 1994). Because
glutamatergic system impair was described in cognitive
deficits (Ernst et al 2010; Segovia et al 2001), it is
possible that this mechanism contributes to piracetams
positive impact on cognition. Recent work showed
that piracetam allosterically modulates glutamatergic
AMPA receptors (Ahmed & Oswald 2010), structure
involved in positive reinforcement in addiction (Bowers
et al 2010).

[...]

While mechanism of increasing level of dopamine,
noradrenalin and serotonin in the synaptic cleft by
methamphetamine is well described (Sulzer et al 2005),
background of interactions of piracetam with methamphetamine
remains unclear. Piracetam seems to be
able to modulate many monoaminergic pathways in
unknown way and it is highly probable that its ability
to interfere with changes in the brain depends on all
of these (Gouliaev & Senning 1994). Certainly more
research on this topic will be needed.

[...]

Our results suggest
that usage of MET+PIR combination by human
abusers may not be coincidental. In consequence such
usage of piracetam may contribute to higher risk of
development of dependence on methamphetamine and
increase susceptibility to relapse in abstaining individuals.
Although piracetam itself shows minimal adverse
effects and toxicity, its combination with psychostimulants
may potentially lead to severe consequences for
the user.

Nice :-D Or not so nice....

But, the combination was kind of a game breaker for me. The last days I could handle some important stuff and didn't feel too stimulated. I even was enjoying it sometimes. But since yesterday, I already need to upper the dose of piracetam in the morning from 0,6 g to 1,2 g. But still I can use half of the normal amphetamine dose.

Hope the need for increasing piracetam is just because of an initial adaption to a new drug, and not some classical tolerance kicking in.

It says it's not neurotoxic but can raise your risk of methamphetamine dependence. So partly good and partly bad.
