How to avoid switching to harder drugs.

Hey guys,
I'm an opiate user who uses Hydrocodone normally as I get a script for 120 7.5mg norcos a month. Usually, I have to take about 7-9 of those just to get the good warm fuzzy feeling anymore..god I remember the days where my mom gave me ONE 10mg norco and I was flying high.

I have been taking anywhere from 15-20 7.5 mg norco's a day recently (with a cold water extraction, obviously) and am so so tempted to switch to something better long term. I have been given percs before when I screwed up my shoulder last month by my primary care who gives me my norcos and loved those. I only had to take 3 10mg percs to get that same fuzzy feeling. She won't switch me to those full time and i've begged, trust me.

I do buy on the streets at time, and have experience with morphine, methadone, tramadol, and oxycodone. I have never tried oxymorphone (i want too badly, can't find it), Opana, or the dreaded heroin.

I have been so tempted to try heroin as I have a pill friend who gets it occasionally. So far, i've been staying away from it and am so glad I have. He snorts it, I know you can take it rectally too and that's the preferred method of administration for my hydrocodone.

How do i avoid this temptation? I don't want to go down that path. Thanks.

The answer to this question depends completely on who you are as an individual, more specifically the motivating factors of your opiate use. Although I have limited experience with opiates, I had the same dilemma when speed was becoming less available and meth became more appealing. It was at this point that I sought help from my depression, and, ever since, I have almost completely avoided stimulants other that caffeine.

Keep in mind that, eventually, you will reach the same point with heroin or oxycodone when it comes to tolerance. The only advice I can give you might not be what you were hoping for (but probably what you're expecting), which is to take a tolerance break or stop abusing opiates all together. Otherwise, the pursuit of getting high will encourage you to climb up the opiate ladder.

If you do choose to take a break or stop, I encourage you to establish a support system to help you stay on track. This will greatly increase the likelihood of success. You can turn to family, friends, and even the bluelight community, as many are in a similar or identical position.

Good luck friend. I hope your good intentions yield good results.
