How Often is Too Often?

I know that many people advocate that it is okay to smoke weed everyday.
Yet I see numerous threads on here where people describe it has changed their life for the worse, especially when trying to quit/take a break.

I realise that this is will vary from person to person, but how often do you beleive is safe to smoke - w/o experiencing any significant side affects that persist past the high (anxiety, paranoia, sweating etc.)

Also, how often do you need to smoke to acquire tolerance?
Would smoking once a week build a noticeable tolerance?

Few questions in there, hope I get some good advice!

I smoke weed every day and I think its too much. I feel adverse effects, such as anxiety, at this level of usage -- and I don't get nearly as high as I would if I didn't smoke every day. I vaporize though, so its less harsh physically than smoking. I think smoking about once a week, or less, is ideal -- you get the most benefits with the least side-effects when using at that level.

Personally the only thing stopping me from mixing hashish oil in every dish and beverage I consume throughout the day is the risk and cost generated by the black market. One of these days, I'll be able to afford to grow enough plants at my house that I can lubricate every surface of my cardiovascular and nervous systems with CBR agonists.

as long as you don't form a pattern of use and are able to just give it up every now and then even if you don't need too you should be fine, its weed not heroin after all

also coolio, I just want to say that I share your hopes and dreams.......

good luck with that

Only you know how much is too much.

Whenever it starts affecting your life (job, relationships, health), that's when its too much.

For some people that's daily, for others its weekly, etc

as the above poster indicated, different people can handle different amounts. generally speaking, i would not recommend smoking every day, if you do try to keep it to one or two hits with frequent breaks where you don't smoke. pay close attention to how long it takes for your mind to return COMPLETELY to normal after you smoke and this will probably be a good indicator of how often you can get away with it. if you wait until your brain fully resets after a high, i don't think you will do damage to yourself, although you may still build tolerance. in order to avoid tolerance altogether, i would estimate you can probably get away with one day per month. you could probably smoke all day that day and then if you abstained the rest of the month, i doubt you'd build tolerance.

i am one of the people whose life was changed for the worse by smoking every day. i used to smoke weed throughout the day every day and just be stoned all the time. it eventually lead to anxiety, burn out, panic attacks, delusional thinking, stomach problems, bad cough and postural orthostatic hypotension.

i was smoking like half an ounce a day for a good solid month or two...

quit like 16 days ago and ive had horrid imsomnia since, can stay awake for like 2 days now and not feel tired

i had such a high tolerance id get high for maybe 20 minutes of some kush...then just feel tired like a comedown

20mins isnt worth it imo, spending so much money

A good hard workout a few hours before bed usually helps combat the insomnia.

Now that college will be starting back up, I'll try to limit my smoking to just a few nights a week. If you don't smoke for 3-4 days in between sessions, the tolerance doesn't really become too much of an issue and it won't take too long to pass a drug test if one should arise.

I smoke everyday and praise Jah, Shiva, and the Mother Earth each and every time.

No negative side effects, other than tolerance. Which I would say that smoking once a week (like you mentioned) would not be frequent enough to cause any noticeable tolerance.

I don't think anyone can answer those specific questions for you. I can only speak from my experience.

For me smoking at all is too much. I love it, its one of the most amazing flowers out there. I went through a period of heavy smoking (3 to 15 times a day) for two years. Since then I have been able to cut smoking back to several times a week. I still smoke every chance I get. I took me a while to realize that over a two year period weed had slowly taken over every aspect of my life. In the end smoking was the only thing left, it was all I cared about. I became marijuana, and I finally realized that I no longer wanted my entire existence to be defined by a single plant.

I never noticed a tolerance issue until I was smoking daily. When I had a tolerance all the negative effect of cannabis use faded away (well at least things like anxiety and paranoia). Recently I've had a minimal tolerance and I've noticed negative effects like paranoia, anxiety, munches, fatigue are more pronounced. I also feel very soar and lethargic once I come down from the peak.

Some people are fine smoking every day but I've realized that the "All Day Every Day Club", or ADEDC, is not for me.

I've smoked so much that it doesnt even get me "high" like it used to. All it does is make me feel paranoid. I get no good feeling from smoking weed. But i still smoke to pass the hours of the day.

I smoke weed everyday and have been for the last few years. I do take short breaks to drop tolerance, but doesnt last any more than 3 days at a time. I definitely notice that smoking weed doesnt have the same effect it did when I started smoking. Its A LOT less visual, and doesnt deliver the experience I once had. Terence Mckenna describes this as not getting "high" but getting the "tolerance high." He advocates the true way to smoke weed is once a week, and in immense amounts. Done this way it will be more of an experience than just a high.

smoking once a day for a week will really build up my tolerance. Its really up to you in the end. Smoke with the intervals you feel comfortable with and dont lose control over the drug

I just came back from Nepal where I smoked myself stupid on high quality pollen hash. Everyday for 3 months 5-7 joints of pollen sprinkled on mids.

It got too the point where I would excuse myself from others company and go to my hotel room so I could get high. And the highs were only lasting 10 mins towards the end of my stay.

Shit! did i over do it. it's been 4 days since I have been home and haven't touched it. It's been pretty easy and i'm more alert and generally more upbeat.

I would say if you have self control one joint after dinner is perfect too unwind your day.

Oh, but a joint with your coffee is also the perfect way too start your day ;) you must choose for yourself.

I would agree that once a day is 'safe', as long as you keep it to a reasonable amout. Get all your shit done, eat without the munchies, clean up, what-have-yu, then blaze a spliff or smoke a pipe. I generally like to smoke really late; I work til midnight most nights, and while the last few hours of the shift are boring, I always ensure that I keep my nice little smokey in mind :)

Too often, for me, is more then once a day- and even then, I think every now and then, a few days need breaking from weeeed. At the moment, I'd smoke 3-4 times a week and get MASSIVELY stoned off very small amounts (50-70mg's). Niceys :):)

I think every day is ok so long as its a small amount, i.e. there is still time spent sober, not being stoned 24/7. And having one or two days off a week also helps keep in touch with reality. In my experience negative effects start to show themselves after heavy everyday usage over an extended period. Eventually I forgot what it was like to be sober, even if I wasn't smoking all day I'd still be burnt out or residually high from the previous night. When I did eventually stop after like two years of this it was a massive shock to the system!
