How much Xanax and can I combine Lortab 325 mg / 7.5 mg for dentist appointment?

Greetings,

I currently have a dentist appointment coming up. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover oral sedation/general anesthesia. I have a huge fear of the dentist but need to do this awake (for the most part).

I am prescribed 2mg Xanax for panic attacks and take about 1.75 every other day. So, I do have a bit of tolerance. Depending on the day, I can feel a bit "high" and good and not a care in the world. However, adding a dentist into the mix is a different story. I currently let the pills dissolve underneath my tongue. My question is how much should I take to deal with the dentist, and not become a hot, crying, panic attack mess?

I also have Lortabs 325 mg / 7.5 mg and I'm considering taking a few of these? No tolerance at all with opiates. Should I do a CWE and just down this before the appointment? I have about (eight) 7.5mg and (13) 5mg. If so, how long before the appointment should I do this? Which would you recommend? Xanax or Lortabs? Both?

I would avoid the opiate and just dose 2mg alprazolam an hour before your procedure. You will have local anesthesia provided, so the benzo should make it very bearable.

Since you have no tolerance at all to opiates they are extremely dangerous to mix with benzos even if you are tolerant to those. Without tolerance to both you run a fair risk of respiratory depression.

Avoid the Lortabs.

There's a high chance you'll be nodding out on the bed if you take that combo and are opiate naive, due to increased resp. depression. I would just maybe take an extra .5mg of xanax, but only if you insist on being more sedate than normal.

I had a feeling this would be said. Okay, so I will not mess with the opiates, but taking only 2mg of Xanax is not going to do the job.

Would taking 3mg an hour before and maybe 1/2mg more 30 minutes prior work?

I see that as safe since you have a tollerance and your goal is to be out of it for valid reasons. Just have a driver / cab.

i would just take 2.5-3mg of xanax and not the lortab, as stated above.

they could make you dizzy or you could possible vomit from nausea and that wouldnt be fun while having people work on your mouth and its just not a smart combo for a non tolerant person anyways.
