How much morphine and codeine are usually in a giganteum pod?

I have looked around for about an hour and a half now trying to find out what the average mg's of morphine and codeine present in a giganteum pod. I looked at wikipedia's poppy page and they gave a figure of something like 80 mg's anhydrous morphine base in a pod. Well, the thing about wikipedia is that anyone can put anything on there that they want too. I really need a concrete reputable source that gives the average alkaloid content of a giganteum pod, and I cannot find one for the life of me. If anyone happens too know where I might find this information I would greatly appreciate it if you would post a link to said information in this thread.

I will continue to look myself, but if anyone has a source for this information I thank you in advance.

In order to have a RANGE of the possible amount of MG of morphine and codeine, you are going to need the dosage in mg as well. Just saying "pod" gives no indication has to how much you are talking about.

Even after this fact, when you have this dosage number, the answer is going to have such a large margin of error I'd imagine it would be a pretty useless number. That's probably why you are having such a hard time finding it.
 
taking the range to be [0.1, 3] % morphine by weight; then:

20grams * (.001 ) = .02 grams
20 grams * (.02) = 0.4 grams
20 grams * (0.03) = 0.6 grams

basic math. so there's a range, [.02,0.6] of grams of morphine per 20 grams of ground pod.

then you have to consider how effectively you can extract that morphine...

I just want to make sure I am understanding you/reading the numbers correctly.

If the pods are at the highest potency 20g*(0.3) = .6 grams of morphine, and this .6 stands for 600mg?!?!?

If I am wrong please correct me and thanks for helping me out too.

Also, could you provide me with a link to this information or even a set of search terms to put in my google toolbar would also be helpful.
 
Try about 75-100mg. Just get them prescribed in amounts of 10mg or 25mg, so you can work your way up if they don't work.

Those doses are for MS Contin, your instant release dose would probably be about 45-60mg.
 
I just edited that post, it shoud have read 20g*0.03 = 0.6g

but.

I based those numbers solely on an above poster stating the range could be 0.1 to 3% morphine by weight.

I actually have no idea what the range is but, if his numbers are correct, then my math check out.

but as I said, then you must consider how much of said morphine you can actually extract / ingest.
You won't get 100% efficiency out of it.
 
the large dosage range is why it's recommended that you powderize all of your pods and mix them all up together. to make dosage more standardized. and you should re-titrate up with each new batch.

While the above is the safest, I have found the strength of pods from some specific vendors to be incredibly consistent over years of purchasing, that is, a dosage within 10-15 percent weight has perceived identical effects/duration. Sure, there was the very very rare time (maybe 2 times in 3 years?) a got a hold of an unusually strong dose from the same weight of material, and I could see how that could theoretically be dangerous, especially if someone was not using it therapeutically, but instead using very high doses to get high instead, placing them much closer to a threshold of danger.

I can't say about actual M content, but I will roughly compare one of the large/jumbo pods I get, which weighs around 4.5-5.5 grams each, to equal about 12-15mg of oxycodone, in my subjective experience of perception to pain relief and relaxation side effect. I typically require 120-150mg oxy to equal 8-10 of the pods I use. That is for therapeutic use. I can take far more if I actually want to have 'euphoria', but that's down to the evil tolerance. When I 1st started using pods, I could use 2 of the x-large/jumbo size pods for therapeutic use.

It's quite interesting that this thread should be up as I have just purchased 500g of Giganteum dried pods and am going to made an alkaloid extract out of them. I'm excited considering that I could in theory yield up to 10,000mg of morphine in this extraction :)
