Hey whats up guys I just got 1.5 methadone 10 pills so 15mg of methadone. I have a question about how it should take it though. I have done methadone 2 other times and I only did 10 mg and I felt nice but I know I could of felt better. So im wondering how I should dose this time since i have 15 mg. Should I take 10 to start with and then take another half of pill a little later? If so how long later. Or should I just start off with 15 mg right away. If i start off with 15 mg right away how long will i feel it for. Thanks alot.

I'm always surprised that people can feel a buzz from such low dosages of methadone. I know it's a pretty potent opioid, but even with a low tolerance, I would need at least 30 mg to catch anything buzz like.

That being said, I would just take all 15 mg at once, if you're just planning on taking methadone. Don't mix benzo's, alchohol, or other depressants. If you are planning on doing that, than yeah, take a lower dose at first to be safe. Also, remember, that oral methadone can take up to 3 hours to fully kick in, so make sure to wait at least that long until deciding to further enhance the high.

Methadone highs take longer to come on than other opiates, and last a lot longer than other opiates. I would say from the time that you get a buzz, it will take over an hour to reach the peak. The peak will last a couple of hours, and then you slowly come down. So you will have a nice buzz for a long time, and a nice high for 3 hours or so.

I took a higher dose the 5 days that I took it, and was high for a long time, like 8hrs. Since your dose is lower it will probably be a little less time than that.

I agree to a certain extent with tommyboy, but to an addict the effect profile of methadone is much different. To me, when I was young and didn't have much opioid experience it was potentially very recreational and 20-30 mgs was a typical recreational dosage (I was like 55kg/110lbs) and it would take about three hours before I'd feel the effects. 30 mg's I would still be feeling effects 30-36 hours later and it would keep me in a nod but unable to sleep most of the night. I don't know if that applies to everyone but that's what it did to me 20 years ago when I'd buy the pills from a friend.

Oddly several years later when I was on methadone maintenance with a high tolerance and in the throes of addiction, there was very little recreational potential. No dosage was really euphoric I was either normal and well, or at a higher dose it very drowsy and sleep inducing, and the onset was closer to 30 minutes to an hour. By that time I metabolized methadone faster than most as well, still waking up sick in the morning at any dose that was low enough to stay awake during the day. It is a really good maintenance/detox drug for most purposes, although something not so drowsy and perhaps time released over 36 hours as opposed to long half lived I think would be a better idea, although you really can't beat methadone for the cost at a pharmacy. The long half life brings greater fluctuation in blood plasma levels in between dosing, and longer lasting withdrawals. Unfortunately they don't trust addicts not to hide their pills while dosing so short of an implant, liquid is the only thing theyll allow and time releasing is out of the question. Then again, I guess they trust people with suboxone lozenges.

If you know how 10mg of Methadone effects you, & the effects you experience from it are definitely noticable but also definitely somewhat mild, I'd say it's almost definitely safe for you to just take 15mg of Methadone at once. Don't take more than that, though; Methadone can be incredibly lethal quite easily.
It takes Methadone hours to reach its peak effects, so trying to spread out the 15mg of Methadone into two different dosages would probably not be the best use of them.
