Hey I posted this question yesterday and was given some advice to try it at this forum instead, thanks for any advice

Hey long time reader, first time question-asker, at least I hope this is how I post a question. Alright so I know a guy who has been using crystal meth for the past 3 months, he has only done it 10 times within those 3 months with about a week between each session and 2 and a half weeks before the last one, each time he his railing anywhere from 50 mg to 350mg of some pretty good stuff, and now he is trying to quit. However after researching so much about crystal withdrawal and long term effects it seems like its going to be tough and last for up to years in some cases before he can return back to normal, however everywhere that says this always says this happens after chronic long term use. Is 10 times over the course of 3 months considered chronic and long term? Will he be depressed for months in an anhedonic state and has he damaged his brain for years to come? Or will these severe withdrawal issues probably not occur for longer than a month or 2, can he prevent these issues by stopping asap or is it too late? Thanks for any advice he would just like to know if he should be as worried as he is after reading some of the research. He is also a young individual in peak health if that helps

No, 10 times in 3 months is not chronic, nor is it long term use. He might go through some withdrawals but he should be fine after a short while.

It's very subjective though how addiction and wihdrawals will grab hold of a person and everyone is different.

People are always paranoid about this. What other drug will have people worry about use that is less than once a week? (Other than MDMA I guess). Withdrawals are borderline impossible at that usage rate. No drug on earth will cause extended withdrawal with use like that. You would have to use it constantly for six months or more along with mad binges/sleep deprivation mixed in to get after effects that lasted years. You are over thinking this. If YOU have any trouble quitting I will be surprised. There are people who use daily and cannot stop despite their best efforts. Be thankful you are one of those who is apparently immune to addiction. If you used that little you were still in control.

It is the taboo that is getting to you, don't worry about it and it will be a breeze.

I've been using stims for more than 20 years, weekly for much of that. Mostly Amphetamine Sulphate, but coke and other stuff over the years and more recently Meth which isnt that common in the UK.

I am working towards stopping this altogether as my consecutive days of use get bigger and the after affects of fatigue and depression do me no favours. I've never even considered withdrawal, I don't know much about what that might mean other than the effects I've mentioned, I can't see me be able to taper off speed I'm either taking it or not.

I don't find Meth any more problematic than the good quality Sulphate I obtain, if anything its cleaner and less compulsive for redose.

If using is worrying you, stop, I'm not aware of any reason why not

Yes, meth is quite a hard drug. I luckily got bored of it.....locking oneself in a room for days is pretty boring, and that is all I want to do on meth for some reason.

But it took some pretty awful binges and sleep deprivation to get to this point I'm at with it now.

Stay strong, turn it down a time or two and you will feel wonderful about it later.

That is very minimal usage, and i find with meth recovery comes quick. Unlike MDMA where recovery can take months - years. Relax
