Ok so I've been occasionally using drugs intravenously over the past 8 years or so, probably less than 30-50 shots total. I recently had the bright idea that I might start treating myself with low dose iv ketamine on a regular basis, possibly twice per week (for treatment resistant bipolar depression), but I'm really afraid of my veins becoming insufficient in some way or acquiring scars that are visible etc.
Now this plan will probably fail because I can't fucking keep myself from injecting k hole doses instead of 35mg, but in case it doesn't and I can get a grip on myself I was wondering how long it took for others until a vein became too hard to inject into. I injected some yesterday while I was drunk and while there is only tiny pinpoint blood leakage, the spot hurts a little (it often does) and I can feel tiny hard knots when pushing down on the vein. I'm not sure how profound/superficial these spots are, but I am very worried, that I will have ruined the vein within a year or two which would be a total deal killer. I'd rather try subcutaneous injections then since I also hate hitting nerves during IM injections, insanely painful ordeal. It also seems like the vein is much harder to palpate than it was 2 weeks ago after about 5 injections and much harder than it's contralateral counterpart.
I'd say my injection technique is pretty good, eventhough it might need some fine tuning, I use 27G needles and I am super fucking careful with sterility, e.g. I use one needle to draw up the liquid and then another to inject and since I currently have to make my own solution (which I boil) I even use one syringe to draw up the water before heating it and another to draw the final solution into it. This last part really sucks, but micron filters can only be bought in 100s here for close to 300 Euros, so I'm trying to order from a wholesale supplier (cheaper) and then prepare a shitload of vials 1-2 years ahead of time which I will sterilize properly after micron filtering the content.
I really wish we came with something akin to usb plugs for computers, but until that happens your experiences/advice would be very much appreciated!
