How many opiate users have OD'd?

This forum is common with opiate users, particually Heroin and oxy users. Im interested in how many of you guys have OD'd, requiring narcan to survive. It would be helpful to state how long you've used for and how many almost fatal OD's?. And if you don't mind your age. I OD'd again on Heroin last weekend making it approx. 18-20 OD's requiring narcan. I've been on/ off, but mainly 'on' over the past 6 years. From 1999-2003 I've dropped 18-20 times. Im 24 next month. Im extremely lucky to be alive. 20 times might seem incredible but its the truth, just wondering if any others have had brushes with death aswell?

i'm 21 years old and have used basically every opiate there is on the street or RX in the US for 5 years and i've never had an OD, maybe i'm just lucky or carefull? 18-20 seems rediculous.
 
i'm 19 and have been using heroin heavily the past 2 years. i have never overdosed but quite afew of my friends have and they've needed narcan.

Narcan required OD's = 2
one on Xmas, which my mom found me in, no good, I had to get defibbed at the hospital because the narcan (short half-life) wore off to quick to deal with the crap in my system. I realized it was time to change or die after that one. That was junk+alprazolam.

20 is an incredible amount. Not to sound patronizing, but you gotta be careful, you are (I'm sure you know this) incredibly lucky to be alive. But we are glad you're still around.

I have never seen any1 od on opiate when used alone and i have seen very small ppl like 125pd. with small tolerance snort 8 oxycontin 40's in 4 hours... but when mixed with other shit that lowers breathing rate and respritory shit and what not can be deadly...
 
I have OD'ed on my own, as in taken too much and had some serious respiratory depression, while slipping in and out of consciousness. When i reach into some IV doses that I have never wandered into, i either write the name of the drug on my hand, or put pre-dial 911 on my cellphone.

Sometimes there is a fine line on whether you have OD'ed or not, but obviously if you've seriously OD'ed your probably no longer breathing, and are not conscious and are turning blue. So, no ive never OD'ed in this sense, but have taken doses that have jeopordized my health.

Also, I am not a heroin user. I only use pharmaceuticals because the only heroin available in this area is black or brown tar heroin, and can be difficult to obtain. Thus I always know my dose. Also, pharmaceutical opiates seem to be alot less sedating than heroin. I always take opiates with benzos, but if i start combining it with things like pentobarbital, I might have a hospitalizable OD.

geetered, first its 28 mg alprazolam. Now 80 mg oxycontin EVERY HOUR FOR FOUR HOURS? Not sure i can belive you there...

I think id be in some trouble if i only snorted 1 OC|80 ...
 
Have never ODed in an unconsious sense, but have spent a couple nights pacing the kitchen in fear of the big sleep.

Luckily, I dont IV, so those^^ have been from oral or nasal admin, in which I have some time to react and realise my mistake.
 
I have ODed a few times. Only once have I been hospitalized for it.

Not good times. Narcan sucks, its the worst feeling to lose your high like that. Not to mention it sucks waiting in the hospital at 3:30am wondering if you're shady ass friends are going to come get you--just thankfull they didn't throw you in a dumpster...
 
Opiate use: 10-12 years (10 yr habit)
OD's requiring Narcon/hospitol: 1 (involved benzos)

It seems certain people are predisposed to OD, I have one friend that I have had to call 911 at least 10 times. In a 2-3 timeframe. Not to mention the probably 20 times if I would not have been around he would probably be dead.

Most OD involve benzos.

I have one friend right now that is knockin on deaths door. Had a bad od on coke/heroin (speedballs) 1 month ago, major comlications, hospitolized for 1 month. Flashforward 2 months: developed acute pains in his chest and lungs, diagnosed with abcesses on lungs along with bloodclots on heart and lungs. Operation is going to cost over 300K.

This kid got out of the hospital, purchased $300 bux of heroin, hit a vein, started the car, put it in drive, OD (passed out blue) ran into a traffic light pole. He is chained to a hospital bed in another hospitol, I spoke with his mom today and said they had to drain fluuid out of his lung, she said the needle was just sickly huge. He was on valium, perc's, many anti-biotics, and heroin. Same weekend another friend dropped out.

For all the chicago heroin users be carefull there is some extremely potent heroin on the streets at the moment, be very carefull...

I live in California, so any heroin I get is of the Mexican Brown Tar variety, which is most certainly some of the least pure and shittiest heroin available. I have never had a problem with this stuff, especially because I almost always smoke it.

Unfortunately, this summer I was in Europe for six weeks, and I started talking to this guy in East Berlin on the U-bahn with really pinned eyes who was able to hook me up with a some brown powder that he claimed came from Turkey. Not having any experience with powder and knowing that I could easily handle a full gram of tar on my own, I railed about .4 (coke-sized rails) of the powder he gave me and very quickly passed out. My buddy had no idea not to let me sleep.

Luckily, though, the friend I was traveling with heard me stop breathing the next morning, and so seven paramedics showed up and administered naltrexone as I lay heaving on the floor. I spent two nights in the hospital because I had thrown up quite a bit while rather unconscious and as a result breathed vomit into my lungs, causing me to contract pneumonia.

Not a great thing to do 6,000 miles from home, haha.
Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was dealing with and how potent good heroin could be.

I've had no other problems since.

Never underestimate a ridiculous drug tolerance. I watched a 105 lb girl sniff about 5 80mg OCs and eat 2mg of klonopin in a 2 hour period. A year later this girl... at 90lbs (who woulda guessed she'd lose weight), injected 5 bags of smack. It looked like she was injecting coffee, hold the milk.

I heard of people needing to inject 240mg of oxycodone just to cure the sickness. Christ, there's people here who shoot 72 hours worth of fentanyl all at once.
 
keta is right.. i know this grrl .. i was amazed when i saw that cuz i thought bad shit was gonna happen but good thing it didnt.. anyways i have had a brush with death b4 .. od'd last august
 
i have a few times. once off of oxys. once off of methadone and xanax. and once off a high dose of methadone. two of the times i ended up getting rushed to the er narcan. the first time i came back, luckily.

scary shit. i never planed on od'ing any of the times.

Nice one. I enjoyed reading that. It sucks though that I enjoyed reading about your friends brush with death. This is one of those "maybe heroin isn't such a good idea" threads!
