Hey bro's

I recently started snorting heroin once in a while. I always do it in the evening to watch tv and then nod to sleep.

I was just wondering how many consecutive days of snorting heroin it takes to become physically addicted to it. I know there's not an exact number of days but there must be some reference, right? Like 14 days or 30 days or so.

Thanks

Its safe to say that after about a month of daily usage you will experience (some) withdrawals when you quit.

Not much, but some.

You said you do it once in a while is that every 2 days, 3 days? Every day? If your doing it everyday I would agree around a month of using you will get minor withdrawal..

you will have the most trouble with psychological addiction...once you tackle the physical side effects, you'll be left with these fuckings cravings to experience that weird, but blissful euphoria again....and you will probably go back to using again and this time you will need more then last time and the vicious cycle repeats over and over again....

Psychological addiction can set in as early as 3-4 days of consecutive use.. Now for pure physical withdrawals, I would say around 2 weeks of constant use, and then stopping, would definitely warrant some minor physical withdrawal symptoms.

There is no exact answer, everyone is different. If you are already worrying about how many days you can do it before you get addicted, you are probably already psychological addicted. Physically dependent? No.. But the psychological pull is what starts it all.

If I were you I would stick to using maybe 1-2 times every couple weeks..

Thanks for the useful responses! :)

Say that I've got two or three weeks of consecutive use. According to you, this will lead to minor withdrawal symtoms. What can you tell me about them? Would I, for example, still be able to go to work and interact with people (I have a social job) without too much trouble? Or would I already need some benzo's to get me through the day?

Also, if I were physically addicted, how long after my last dose (snorted) would the withdrawal symptoms start i.e. if I've gone 24 hours without WD's, would it be safe to say that I'm not physically addicted?

dude just stop now, the mental aspect of withdrawal makes your mind tell itself that doing more is only positive for you. This is until you get physical withdrawal, and when that takes over your mind suddenly wants to slow down a little bit but you no longer can beat it with your mind. Then you're in shit and can't quit, don't even get a psychological addiction or you will get addicted totally most likely. My friends who seem fine still only do it one day in a row EVER, and most of the time do it once every one/two weeks or less, never go over this kind of limit if you want to avoid all pain from heroin.

Yes my physical w/d started about 2 weeks into snorting 1-3 times a day. I just didn't care about it then because it felt so weak, like I could still beat it easily. Once I got to a little over a month then one day I went without it for awhile because of bad luck scoring and I found out I was a slave to it.

I agree with the other people. Using daily for about a month is about the right amount of time to start getting a withdrawal when u quit.

Im non-educated when it comes to heroin (never tried it) But hell- I think if I did heroin for just a week streight I'd be addicted.... :P

But then again, I have an addictive personality... when I was in my teen's I could of swore that I was "addicted" to marijuana and I even had these tempertantroms when I ran out and got all depressed..... But I'm pretty sure it was all in my head because pot isn't addictive, IMO... HA.

Ok........aha

To the op, alot of people will tell you that if you've been addicted in the past then anything more then 2 days is playing with fire. If you haven't really been dependent then it might take a week.

It really depends on how frequent you dose, and how much. If you can do less and space it out. Withdrawal wont be as bad.

physically addicted
That is a pretty ambiguous term.

Dependence is when you need the drug to feel baseline and lack of it will cause withdrawal.
Tolerance is when you need more of the drug to achieve the same effects.
Addiction is when you continue to consume the drug even after it starts negatively effecting your life and you can't stop.

A person physically dependent on pain killers for legitimate pain may not be considered an addict, while someone who hasn't used heroin in 20 years might still say they have an addiction to it.

physically addicted to me means the chemical processes in the brain which effect addiction, however it is often used to mean dependence.

With respect to your questions dependence will set in after a few days of use but symptoms of withdrawal won't be "notable" for a couple weeks. As for addiction, it can happen after your first dose, your second, never happen at all, or for those with an addictive personality who just need to try it once - you can almost be addicted before your first taste. The chances are the longer you use the more likely you are to become addicted though.

We can't possibly answer this OP. The severity is variable, the symptoms are variable, and the nature of your work and social life and ability to handle all this is complete unknown.

For internasal heroin 12-24 hours is a good amount of time to expect the onset of acute withdrawal symptoms.

I'm going to close this thread now as the answer to the question "How many days can I take heroin straight without becoming dependent" has no exact answer and is just the opinions of how much withdrawal counts as withdrawal and all this is different for everybody anyways. The less you take the better off you'll be.
