How long until my benzo tolerance lowers?

interesting thread as i was going to ask the same question.

although my benzo abuse was embarrassingly high to the point that i count myself lucky to be alive!

it began as a once in a while thing only when i was flying, maybe 40 mg diazepam or 3-4 mg alprazolam, for anywhere between a 4-12 hour flight (im petrified of flying) then around april 2009 i began taking 10 mg diazepam once per week, then around september 2009 i began using recreationally, just once per week (at weekends) but the doseage was upped to anywhere between 20-30 pills of a variety of benzos (alprazolam, bromazepam, diazepam, lorazepam, clonazepam, temazepam, midazolam, nitrazepam)

this continued, but gradually (and predictably) increased in the quantity of benzos i was taking,by chistmas to at least 50 pills (i used to keep a blog of what id taken and when) yet i was still only using once per week at weekends, then into the new year i continued increasing the doseage as my tolerance began to go through the roof,i was still using just at weekends but was now taking 100+ pills which eventually ended up with me taking over 300+ pills each weekend in a 24-36 hour period!

then i was off work sick (unrelated to my benzo use) for some weeks over the summer, due to being stuck at home bored i began taking benzos daily, although only about 30 pills a day but during this time i also began to use opiates (oxycontin).

then about 7 weeks ago i realised what a mess i had become and how id lived the past 10 months in a haze,so i decided to stop taking everything completely,i was aware of the horror stories people talked about when quiting using benzos but to be honest after 7 weeks of not touching anything ive been ok apart from a few weeks of insomnia, derealisation and some twitching.

how long for my tolerance to drop? will it be years,or maybe never due to my chronic abuse?

I know this is old, and maybe I'm a freak of nature... But my benzo tolerance lowers in literally just a couple of days, and I take anywhere from 3mg - 8mg clonazepam per day for half a year. Seriously, only a few days, and 2-3 mgs makes me feel great again

Your a lucky lucky freak of nature.

Iv'e learnt theat my tolerance can drop to varying degrees between anywhere between 2-8 weeks complete abstinence.

As many of you know on here my Benzo + Opiate abuse was potentially suicidal, id gotten my benzo use down to between 50-70mg Diazepam although this was not everyday use, somedays id use 3-4 days consecutively (as i have this week) and then break for a week or as long as possible, but tonight due to boredom ive already consumed 170mg Diazepam and 10mg Alprazolam and im not feeling much!

Ive let myself down... im even considering adding someTramadol to the mix to liven things up a bit. (I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BEHAVIOUR TO NON TOLERANT INDIVIDUALS)

My drug councillor recommends that it would be better to keep a low a dose as possible used daily to level off the amounts of Benzos in my bloodstream, therefore levelling out my 'all over the place mental state'

She says this is better for me psysically and psychologically rather than abstaining for a week or or more and then binging.

I was supposed to start a 40mg per day Diazepam taper as of Monday 18th of June but because they found Morphine in my urine sample they refused to begin the taper. (understandably) But the only opiates id used in the previous wekk or so were Dihydrocodeine and Tramadol which i had no idea metabolised into Morphine in the human body??

^ it sounds like bingeing isnt doing much for you in anycase. The only thing it would be doing is messing with your tapering plan- keep at it mate.

@benzoethnu: For me personally I have to wait a full 7 day week of no benzos before I can get off on them again.After. 5 days I can get high somewhat but for that high you (and me) are chasing wait the full week.By the way,do benzos long enough and you'll end up like me:10-20mg of xanax to get where you want to be.Contrary to what most people say, sniffing makes them way better,it is a pain in the ass though!
