How long to go without benzodiazepines so I can fully trip on LSD

First let me preface by apologizing. This has probably been answered a million times, but I'm awful with the search engine. I'm currently on 2mg Klonopin & 2mg Ativan daily. I can go without them no problem. I was wondering how long I should take a break from them before taking LSD for a FULL, fantastic trip? Same question with mushrooms too. I know Ativan has a short half-life, but klonopin has a 24 hour half-life. So any ideas as to how long I should wait for the klonopin to completely clear my system? Again I apologize for a question that is probably getting really old.

The would wait at least 24h, but ideal conditions might be like 3 days. Btw, are you really sure you can stop cold turkey benzos?

You can trip even whilst they're still in your system, so that isn't a problem. The only thing about combining the two is that benzos will dull the deeper and more interesting/rewarding aspects of a trip.

How long have you been on benzos, and have you quit them cold-turkey before? If you know what you are doing, then just stop taking them and you should be fine to trip within the next couple of days. But I think you should give it a few days off just to see how you are reacting in withdrawal.

I tripped on 2C-T-2 whilst in the midst of a delirium tremens episode 3 into quitting diazepam cold-turkey (a long-term and high dose habit). The results were fucking devastating to say the very very least. Needless to say, it was a kind of personal hell that I never want to repeat.

Nevertheless, that experienced was a huge turning point in my life to start doing things better and stop being such a selfish cretin. Although I relapsed on the benzos afterwards, the door was already cracked open and I couldn't lie to myself any longer and I had to give them up a couple of months later.

I also just want to add this off-topic: if you are at the stage where you can still stop benzos without feeling major withdrawals... DO IT, AND DO IT NOW. If you choose to keep taking them daily because you believe you are one of those people who "doesn't get withdrawals", you will fucking rue the fact you didn't take this advice. Coming off of benzodiazepines has to be one of the worst drug withdawals a human can endure, and it is hell. They last for ages (a year or more), and it takes incredible willpower and endurance not to cave in.

On the bright side, there is a point at which you finally emerge from this hell, and you can indeed be free of benzos. You don't have to be enslaved to them. Believe this, because I was one of the worst addicts where I felt utterly powerless to let go, and I never believed the people who said you could be happy without them. But I proved to myself and many other people that you can overcome it. You will come out of it a much stronger, happier, and more peaceful person than you went in, which is one of the ironies of drug addiction.

I'm actually prescribed my benzos for years now. I've gone cold turkey from klonopin for weeks by still taking my Ativan. That has a shorter half-life. So I planned on taking a week off klonopin, then taking 2-3 days off Ativan. Ive done it before to roll to on MDMA, but i was i wasnt sure if acid would work the same. I was just wondering if the Ativan will be out of my system enough for a good trip. :) thanks for the tips guys!!

^So you haven't actually gone cold-turkey then, because you were still taking lorazepam (ativan). Seriously man, benzo withdrawal is no joke.

yeah do not let that clonazepam clear your system. A trip plus withdrawal would be a guaranteed seizure if not psychosis.

benzos do not affect a trip that negatively. They take the edge off, the shitty anxiety part. It's only if you are abusing benzos does it dull the trip. My advice, take a higher dose of a psych and stay on your meds. Then do some research on benzos, you are in for a shit storm if you ever try to quit them, prescribed or not.

Well like I said I've gone a week without klonopin before, and I was off everything, including Ativan for 3 days without withdrawal, so I could roll. Are you sure the benzos wouldn't kill the trip? Cause they definitely kill MDMA completely!!

I am on 3mg clonazepam per day, and have been since 2007, and I agree that they do take away the full tripping potential. BUT, I have never noticed it dull MDMA and I enjoy rolling while on benzos (i'll take like 300mg though)

Benzos definitely dull the trip. It takes away something that can't be brought back by taking higher doses either.

You would probably enjoy it even if you just waited 24 hours, but for a full experience, it would probably take several days to get all that clonazepam out of your system. If you can go without it for several days and don't get anxiety I would wait atleast a couple days.

That's because effects of MDMA are like complete opposite of benzos. Whereas LSD is it's own substance that would just be dulled regularly by a benzo.

Wow, i have been using benzos daily for years and maybe these hoffmans i recently got aernt so weak at all. I take benzos for anxiety and i cant stop using them but that doesnt stop me from having a good trip, i just need to take more.

If you take benzo for an anxiety disorder I don't think you should stop taking it to try acid. People who have anxiety problems are prone to have them on psychedelics if they don't stay on benzos.
