Misc How long is safe to wait to do DXM after taking 5-htp?

Specifically 100mg of 5-htp recently and 300mg of DXM as an upcoming dose. Somebody told me to wait a full day, but I know that you only have to wait 6 hours after taking 5-htp to safely consume alcohol, so I was wondering if something along those lines was the case for DXM as well?

ehhhh be careful... im not sure exactly... but i would give it a little more time than 6 hours...

a friend of mine once took 5htp earlier in the night, then took DXM and got serotonin synrdrome...

the way he described it was so awful...
 
Do you know how long most serotonin syndromes last for? And how did he describe it? It's been 9 hours now btw.
 
^I saw one of my friends get serotonin syndrome once. It was not pretty. He described it as one of the worst feelings he's ever had, from an onlooker's perspective he was laying on the ground groaning like he was in extreme pain and vomiting. I'm not sure how long it lasted because I was on DXM at the time, but my guess would be 30 minutes or so, but it really is a wild guess.

Serotonin syndrome can kill you though, it's not something to fuck around with. I'm not sure how long you need to wait for 5-htp, my friend that got serotonin syndrome got it because he was on a pharmaceutical SSRI, then took a moderately low dose of DXM (I think he took like 300-400 mg) along with a lot of tobacco. Serotonin syndrome an be pretty horrible and can be fatal, so I'd wait at least 24 hours, just to be safe.
 
Yeah it sounds pretty bad. I don't think that waiting 24 hours is necessary though; if whatever risks in combination with alcohol disappear after 6 hours then I think the 15 hours since I took the 5-htp is definitely sufficient enough a wait.
