How long do EZ test kits remain valid?

Depending on how you store the reagents, they could last anywhere from 6 months to a year, or longer. Keep them in a cool, dark & dry place, away from light. Are you worried that your reagents are no longer good? How long have you had them?

I've been wondering this too. My kit is about 6 months old, and worked fine on the last use so I'm assuming it's still good, but I'm wondering if I might need a new one for the summer festival season (it'll be a year old or more). Any other thoughts on the lifespan of reagents (marquis in particular)?

The last Marquis I purchased lasted 1 1/2 years. I always keep it in a cool, dark, dry place. YMMV. :)

How cool does it have to be.

Yes, anywhere that is devoid of sunlight and isn't warm.

If you see a place sporting sunglasses and a Kangol hat . . . that's a coooooooool place man.

How about storing in the fridge? and taking out to use after waiting for reagents to turn to room temperature.
Will this change in temperature effect the accuracy of future tests?

I would not store reagents in the fridge. Condensation could occur and taint the reagents.

Here's the link to the info on how to test your testing kit to see if it's still good:

Keep all reagents in a cool, dark, dry place, and try to keep them in a protective container. I keep mine in a metal lock box, near an air vent (I'm in a very humid climate), stored inside a plastic bottle/sleeve with a stabilizing material inside for accidental spills. This method usually makes my Marquis last 1 1/2-2 years. YMMV. :)

After five months of non-use I used my marquis reagent today. I ordered it a year ago. Used it over 50 times. But today I noticed it had gone bad! I think part of the reason that happend is that the last time I used it (July) I opened the bottle up because the dropper tip (the plastic at the end) was clogged and I poured the agent directly on the plate.

Anyway, I stored it in my car. I guess the heat ruined it and it had totally oxidized and was black in color when it came out. Not good, if you're looking for a black color change that the liquid is black to begin with. However, the color change lightened and then was a black reaction to the pill, so it still worked... but I would warn people to make sure your reagent did not oxdize and turn black like this. It should be a neutral color (in the case of a marquis, its like an off-yellow)
