I know a guy who's had some since May. Should they still be edible/potent? I don't know how well he stored them, as I haven't actually seen them. I'm guessing probably in a tin or a box of some kind.
Easily a year if dried and stored right. I once ended up having over 100g. of shrooms due to some company accidently sending me loads of grow kits. They lasted a long time.
One thing though is that after a year or so they seemed to give a few people some negative bad trips. I'm not sure if it was the length they had been stored but I ended chucking the last 10 grams or so out. Tthe psilocybin got degraded possibly?
I had some dried and in the freezer for 5 years which seemed as potent as the day they were stored.

Nah, that's placebo. There's nothing in degraded psilocybin that's going to give anyone a "bad trip". It was a waste of 10 grams.

I'm also pretty sure that's placebo. In order to give different effects, the psilocybin would have had to convert into a different psychoactive substance. I've never heard of that happening (and shrooms have been around for a LOOOOOOONG time). Waste of 2 decent trips IMO.
Properly dried and stored shrooms (stored in a cool, dry and dark place) should keep for a year or more before you would notice any change in potency. However, if not stored right, they will degrade rather quickly. I've eaten shrooms that were kept about 8 - 9 months and they produced almost no effect (save perhaps a little bit of anxiety and a cold nose), but I don't think they were stored properly because they were disintegrating into dust pretty much.
I've eaten ones over 6 months... nay 9 months old, they're gross but they worked! just watch out for any extra molds on them. besides the natural blue bruising.
I had some very well dried ones that I found in a drawer in an often un-airconditioned room for what I believe was like 11 years, they seemed ALMOST fully potent... perhaps 80%. If totally dry, I think being incorporated into the cellulose fiber matrix of the mushroom meat probably protects the psychoactive molecules pretty darn well. Ah, the wonders of desiccation! (huh... who knew that word had 2 "c"s and only 1 "s"... language can be so weird... uh, sorry, back to topic )
