How Long Can I Take Valium (To Help Withdrawal) Until I Get Physically Dependent?

I'm quitting a 100mg of oxycotin a day habit, I've had for about 1 year and a half (I sniff the oxy's). I plan on using valium to help with the withdrawal symptoms. I have only used valium a couple of times never more than twice a week and I don't know much about the physical addiction potential for it (aside from that it can happen). Basically, how long can I use valium to help my withdrawal symptoms until I get physically dependent on valium?

It depends on how many mg you're taking, but if you use it consistently for more than a week, you're asking for trouble. 2 weeks and you'll probably have some withdrawal symptoms. 3 weeks and you've got a whole new problem to deal with.

If I were you, I'd use it pretty much as needed for the first 5 days. IME, Oxycodone withdrawal symptoms have mostly eased up by then. Then I'd taper off the valium over the next 2-3 days.

I was thinking the physical part would be done within 5-7 days. so during that time i would be using valium for that week. could i use it for a week straight and then stop?
- i have 30 10mg valiums, 8 15mg oxazepam, 3 0.5mg clorazepam, I will be splitting these with my gf (who is also quitting same time as i am)

So.. 15x10mg diaz, 4x15mg oxazepam, 1.5x0.5 clonazepam each? I wouldn't take a diaz every day for 15 days, try to limit yourself to a week if poss..

clonazepam is a long lasting benzo, similar to diazepam, anxiolytic but quite sedating, and oxezepam I have never tried but it looks like it is also anxiolytic but shorter acting. Have a look at the conversion chart in my sig for comparisons.

You should be okay taking diazepam for a week then stopping, but everyone is different. If I were you I'd take it for the minimum time possible - if you need it for a week, try stopping dead at the end, and consider the possibility of needing a short taper if stopping dead is uncomfortable. Diazepam has a very long half-life, which can ease any WDs compared to say Xanax..

Best of luck! <3

"So.. 15x10mg diaz, 4x15mg oxazepam, 1.5x0.5 clonazepam eac" yea thats exactly how much we each have to do.. I used to use valium recreationally about twice a week for 2 months.. but i haven't used any benzo's for atleast a month more likely a month in a half or 2 months so my tolerance will be little if anything.. which I feel will make the valiums more effective.. I will be using the benzo's as needed and i'm realistically guessing anywhere between 3-5 valiums a day..

I'm quitting this Thursday and have to get my wisdom teeth taken out the following thursday will I be back to normal by then and able to deal with getting my wisdom teeth taken out?

So I have benzo's to help with the physical withdrawal pains, muscle aches, anxiety and insomnia..
I bought vitamin C and vitamin D and plan on drinking tons of water and milk and fruit juice.. I also plan on trying to eat healthy.. I'm going to buy some chocolate and other candy to snack on
I'm going to be with my gf so I will be able to get laid and have sexual interactions
I got my laptop and a ton of movies and a TV so I can watch TV and movies
Is there anything else I will need to make the withdrawal easier? (I'm dropping from 100mg of oxycotin a day to nothing)

Hehe sorry was just thinking out loud..

Sex and solidarity will def help! As will distractions and vitamins and tasty food. Just fill your space with as many treats and cosy things as you can. Good luck <3

I have been on pain meds for years for a problem. I have always dosed down by half every three months, and sometimes quit altogether when my condition goes into remission. I have been through detox more times than i can count. I've tried it all - no matter what it sucks.
A taper down BEFORE you quit, evern a drastic one over three days will help.
Benzos help, yes, but for me, Lyrica has been the best thing. I can function at work, and even kind of get some sleep at night. No anxiety at all(for me thats the worst).
But really, try to taper before you quit.
Good luck. It's gonna be rough no matter what.
The BEST way is the most problematic.
On the night of day four, or even better, the morning of day five, do a small but decent amount of opiates. This will radically reduce the rest of your w/d. The problem is to not begin again.
I really hate the stuff, but cannot function without it. So for me, I can do the day four dose and get away with it, as I have no urge to continue. But for someone who loves them, it could be an issue
