how is anxiety disorder treated in Australia?

Yeah ill give it a go, ill go to a doc's in a different suburb. Hopefully they wont search me up because they won't like what comes up on there screen haha.

Psych's really don't do a great deal man (in my opinion anyway), but you if you really want to see one you can get 12 free sessions a year through medicare. You just gotta do a little a test with your gp and they will fax the referal.

I quit my AD's, not that i had a choice anyway.. but since then i have been feeling good and my depression has actually improved which is good. I quit about 2 weeks ago cold turkey.. Had severe headaches for a few days but after that i was good

I have a refferal but they want something like 750 bucks and someone who knows me well (this is a psych who specialises in ADD) as i was diagnosed add as a kid.

I hate those headaches, had one all day last week :(

If your feeling better and well, then thats great news, try going without meds, thats what im going to do.

Best of luck

A good link,

Doctors deffinatly over prescribe meds and these meds that are designed to cure anxiety/depression or whatever actually make your symptoms worse and you will have to w/d sooner or later... sooner prefferable

Unless your 100% sure you cant live life normally (stop all drug use including illicit) and re-evaluate the situation after a couple of months IMO would be the best option. :)

I saw a psych and i got put on paroxetine (started off on lexapro). My psych said that it would suit me perfectly but all it did was make me sick and jittery.

All I can say is be very careful with short acting SSRI's like paroxetine..

My GP put me on Aropax (paroxetine) 20mg as a starting SSRI when I went to see her about anxiety I was experiencing, while making it very clear that I had no depressive symptoms.

Well.. The next 3-4 months were a fucking nightmare.. I ended up getting very depressed from Aropax and it also triggered intense Manic stages..

I ended up getting off it cold turkey, which was worse that coming off heroin..

After doing a lot more research I've found that a much more likey diaognois is ADHD which in turn caused the Anxiety as it certainly can..

Started myself off on a suppliement diet of L-Tyrosine, Fish Oil, Magneisum and Calicum with a nighttime dose of Tryptophan to help with sleep and a little nudge towards to serotonin reproduction..

If you're not too sceptical about natural supplements I'd suguest looking into the benifits of something like calcium and magneisum supplements and possibly something that stimulates dopamine and noredrenaline production which can greatly help with mood, energy levels and increased concentration (with the upside on an increased motabilism, since now I'm not taking meth all the fucking time I'm putting weight back on)..

If you're looking at following down the path of perscription medication maybe look into a SSRI with a longer half life than Lexapro or Aropax.. Since the ones with the shortest half lives do the most damage and are hardest to get off..

Since going on SSRI's I've quit one job I LOVED, got fired from a job which I should have been able to go in my sleep and caused more psychological trauma to myself and the people around me than I thought possible..

So all I can say is RESEARCH!
