I had completely forgotten about this part. I always believed that when I came back (and for a while I wasn’t even sure I’d make it back) there would be a relief. A great exhalation, a joyousness to look into every passing eye and see in there a character.
“I would walk up to that girl, you know, that one with the low slung pants, the old ‘Wrangler’ stitching on the back pocket. ‘I like the way you dress’ I’d say. She’d turn, let her cell phone drop to her side. I'd hear the faint ‘Hello? Hello!?’ of a mans voice on the other end. She would flash a big smile up at me, a “FRIENDS” smile, you know. A Thursday night T.V. smile. I’d give her one back with the shy eye bat that comes right back up to read her unread soul, to pay special attention to all the things he thinks aren’t important. I would quit smoking for her and she would change her mind about Hemingway. I'd start drinking beer instead of whisky and she'd let me drive fast. What the hell is the name of that Mexican chain place, Chalupas, Chalitos, what, Bryan says Chipotles. I’d take her there.”

Now is Chipoltes closer to 1954 E 33rd or the Dube?
