I've been smoking weed for about 4 years, and thats like 10-20 bongs a day. Just wondering how hard it really is to stop smoking after doing it for so long, are the withdrawels bad?, how does your body cope? how does your mental state cope? Is it easy? Plz help I'm almost in a position where I cant score unless I put myself through hell!!!!

its easy for me to quit. i kinda like taking a break once in a while...being sober becomes a whole new high

it totally depends on your physical strength, so i'd say nobody can really give you a precise answer to your question..

imho you'll have to answer your own question - try to quit and see how hard it really is for you. if you care for my individual point of view - out of the substances i tried, i didn't get addicted to any of them.. surely, i often think about smoking weed when i have none, but not having any doesn't throw me into a deep hole.

if you decide to quit (or just cut back, it's often much easier), let us know how it goes :)

no matter wether this will get closed or not, have a look at this thread.

^ yeah same here :) edit: oops that for spork

I'd say it's not really hard, just annoying. The w/d is frustrating if you go through it at all. For me it's hard to eat or sleep regularly for a few days, but that's no biggie. Mentally, after about three days, I feel like spork said and being sober is almost like being high. Everything is clear and I can focus better. I usually don't go for more than a month because I start to get a little tense, mostly physically. I think I rely on weed to relax my body too much.

yea - i find its HARD not to smoke sometimes and others not too bad

lately ive been reducing the amount i smoke - well the last few months, and havent toked in 2 days, not bad going - when its 2 months then ill be happy and buy an ounce to celebrate!

thanks for your input. I do say I've managed to get myself through the day fine without, but its bed time that shits me, I've either had to have fucked myself up phsically or smoke cones to get to sleep when I want to, otherwise I'll have to wait till really late at night, maybe even early morning.
Oh yeah how long do withdrawels last on average?

a few days to a week or so...

depends if you are actually having a "with drawel" or just really thinking about that one more joint factor which i always get...

withdrawel had me hitting walls swearing at my parents, not sleeping, been extremely bored and been very anxious and paranoid.

I think it partly depends on what else is going on in your life. Personally a great deal of my social life revolves around weed simply because over the past 12 months I have barred off sober friends to go get stoned with my pothead friends.

I guess what I am trying to say is if you fill your days up with non weed related things your chances of success go up.

it was kinda hard for me after doing it everyday but i agree with spork being sober actually feels kinda nice after being literally high constantly for weeks, a plus is when u start toking up again that first hit is oh soo bomb and you get sooo baked!!

I think that changing settings makes it really easy. I smoked a LOT of weed the last quarter, but I'm back home for spring break and have only gotten high once since last wednesday without any difficulty. It would be significantly harder to just up and quit if I were back at school, when I've had a routine going for months.

one thing though, when you quit, you go back to having dreams when u sleep rather than just bombing out. I personally find it very hard to quit weed, i quit ciggies and i was so damn proud of myself (it's been 2 months), but weed, it's difficult if all your friends smoke, start by cutting back to like once/twice a week, like every friday night or something, and then work from there. Maybe eliminate the pipes and stick to the reefers, not as cost efficient, but is a step closer to cutting back. Otherwise, your local GP can help you to quit, cause the insomnia/restlessness is difficult when you quit.

It all depends if you've got weed or not i think, if i have some i will just smoke it but when i don't have it there is no problem, the key is not to buy it but that can be a difficult decision.

Then there's friends with their ganga, oh well.

I've had to quit weed in the past. And while it really is not all that fun, it's not nearly as hard as quitting opiates...

When you quit weed, there is no withdrawls.. per say... it's more like, you just wish you were high. More of a mental withdrawl...

With dope, its a physical withdrawls and a mental withdrawls. But even the mental withdralws is horriffic. Probably worse than the physical. Opiate withdrawl is a WHOLE nother battle... it just really sucks the life outta you...

Good luck on quitting the pot though. It's not as easy as some may think...

I've started taking 2 or so week breaks...ANd I couldn't agree with you more. I was all giggly and shit one day and just felt so good...I was high on not being high.

Thats true. I had not smoked 3 months and yesterday I smoked little bong. Not as much to get baked, but as much as there was needed to get the feeling. It was totaly new feeling from MJ for me. It was 1 time in 3 months, but I stay away from MJ at least to summer.

For me it wasn't to hard to take a break. I to smoked 4 years, but not as much as you, but still. If you have little bit self-discipline you could do it.

One of the best high is to be sober;)

If I have it, I will smoke it. If I don't have it, I don't really have a problem. I guess that means its hard to quit for me? Its easy as long as you have hobbies to keep your mind occupied so you don't sit around and think about weed and getting high.
