How dangerous are test reagents to Humans?

Hi Guys,
Last weekend a friend of mine told me he had a pill that had a blue mark on it - the way he described it sounded like there may have been some simons reagent spilt on it. He said he didnt think much of it at the time - so he actually ate the pill.
My question is - would consuming a small amount of reagent that may have spilt onto a pill be dangerous? I know the reagents clearly state 'wash your hands after use' so obviously it cant be good for you etc... but is it likely to cause major problems?

Simons contains chemicals which can be dangerous, although the toxicity levels of a very small amount is not likely to cause harm. One of the ingredients is actually used in medicine. However, this is not to say that these should ever be intentionally consumed.

Reagents such as Marquis, Mandelin, Froehde, Mecke etc, are very toxic and corrosive. Under no circumstances should these ever be consumed - even a tiny amount would cause severe burns and in the case of Mecke, potentially cause severe toxic reactions.

It's always best to discard any pill or powder that may have come into contact with these chemicals. As is done in the lab, eye protection and gloves should be worn whenever they are handled.
