When I take amphetamines (and alcohol) my jaw, mouth, tongue and lips start moving :!
I think it is normally called "Crack jaw". I really hate it, it looks UGLY and you can see from twenty meters away that I am on speed which of course is a safety risk. Therefore I can't take speed when I go out.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I'vre read about taking magnesium so I tried it (one gram) but it did not help at all. Are there any other way to ease this problem?

Maybe try taking less speed? Or possibly the combination of the alcohol and the speed is producing side effects in you.

You mention that you tried 1 gram of magnesium, but magnesium is not something you only take once and instantly benefit from. It should be taken regularly as a supplement to your diet, just like vitamins.

I'd use a combination of magnesium citrate, gum, and self control; I used to have a problem with chewing my tongue and clenching my jaw, especially when on speed and I found I had to consciously stop myself from doing it, though gum helped a lot. Eventually I didn't need the gum to keep from doing it.

there not much you can do really. except not to drink any alcohol at all when on speed, This has worked for me. You could take some kind of muscle relaxant instead, like a benzo, but it´s kind of like pissing against the wind. If you know what I mean.

There´s no scientific evidence that magnesium helps, and honestly, I think it´s placebo.

if your bruxism is really bad, chewing gum can have the opposite effect. Only use it for light jaw clenching. Or you could hurt your jaw, damage your teeth or even be more crazy to look at.

You should read about bruxism here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruxism

And, Oh, yeah, take a little less speed, as some one already said., it would help too, obviously :)

hm ive never had this problem with uppers. but similar problems, like tensing my chest muscles up, which=uncomfortable. so i relax my muscles and that eliminates the anxiety. its not the same thing, but essentially the problem is muscle tension. just relax.

Self-control.

Nah man, you must not be gettin' that good.

Yeah, chewing gum is the only thing I found to help. Even with self-control, you will look up a few minutes later and be grindin'

Not trying to be a smartass, It's just I saw "self control" and almost considered it blasphemy. That being said, it does effect everyone different.

Ive found that taking benzos help alot. And also, try to keep reminding yourself that your clenching so when you catch yourself you can inmediatly relax your jaw. Also, instead of gum, I get a big bag of jelly bellies ;) altough that might even look more dumb when you go out! haha

reading through this thread gets my jaw moving just thinking about it haha

But Like everyone said, try gum, or a sucker, something to keep your mouth busy. :)
