Help How can I tell if my husband is using subtex by sniffing it . I saw his Basel dripping and powder in his snot .

Well the symptoms will be the same as if he was taking subutex. Maybe don’t worry about it? He could be going drugs. Sometimes you sniff your medicine. Let him do what he needs to stay clean from opiates.

If he’s just sniffing subutex to get high. Give the man some bodily autonomy or leave the relationship if it’s too troubling that he takes his medicine nasally.

There might not be much of any signs, it produces really modest high even if one tried, if tolerant. it has little bearing to anything practical matter between me and my partner and so my partner hadn't even imagined about it before I told along the way. But it was all right for them. So It is not necessarily that serious, it is harder to, for example, get on debts or get escapist when one should deal with some inconvenient matter. Compared to some other stuff out there.

It is probably best that you talk about it. Having open atmosphere benefits relationships. It also might be that your husbands use is not under control and thus could use your support.

I am again on dose less than 0,3 mg/day IN, I have gone down to about 20 % of what it used to be 3 months ago. :drunkmonk:

There are few benefits to 'sniffing' your Suboxone -- mostly the ritual of 'sniffing' something.

Signs -- umm orange coming out of his nose is about the only one that comes to mind. Cut up straws everywhere -- I'm guessing you know the signs.

Congrats pissed and messed -- I'm still between 1mg-and 2mg. Somehow the benzos were easier to taper for me

Intranasal buprenorphine is going to produce the same effects as sublingual, like everyone else has said. It just kicks in faster.

And some times having a drug get quicker to the brain can give it a bit of a "zing", where as when it comes on slower, it can be less "rushy".

Subutex/Suboxone (aka buprenorphine) is a partial agonsit with a ceiling effect. Once tolerant to it, it's not going to produce any "euphoria", no matter how much you take or how you take it.
It can however still have side effects. I've been on subs for 10 years & even with being massively tolerant to it, it still makes me sleepy & noddy every day. It's just not "fun" in any way.

As @helpingout said, I'd rather my husband be sniffing buprenorphine than sitting in a back alley somewhere shooting up methamphetamine & sucking dick. So if his intranasal use bothers you so much, then maybe leave the relationship. The man has authority over his body, not you. The mucus membranes in the mouth are incredibly similar to the mucus membranes in your nose & sinus cavity, so it's not like it's really all that much different. So give the guy a break & let him do what he needs to do. He's already taken the step to get on subs, so you can't rush him.

I´m not going to butt my head in too far and ask you why it is so important that he take it sublingually. Don´t get me wrong, I respect that being able to stick to longer-onset ROAś can be an important stepping stone in their recovery. However, the whole thing is basically inconsequential. You need to have trust in your relationship. I know that´s not what you want to hear. If you have to wonder, you should be direct with your partner and ask.

The intranasal bioavailability is commonly stated at 50% whereas the sublingual bioavailability is ~30%. If he is insufflating his medication, then it is quite close to taking a double dose at any given time. This is not typically dangerous, as Buprenorphine has a great safety profile. It´s not going to kill him, however Buprenorphine is a drug for whom the pharmacology changes drastically as the dosage is raised above 2mg per day. Essentially, the Buprenorphine just using my own understanding and rationale of this drug, is at its best ultimately below this dose.

I´ve known people who have gone from SL, to insufflation to injection chasing a high that they all ultimately admit they never even got. Everyone that I have ever personally spoken to has stated in retrospect that it was their conditioning to know Opioids as a cure for how they feel that they continue pushing the dose upward - and doctors are more than happy to facilitate.

If you need more information, let me know. Just ask him. If you saw orange crumbs in his nose, don´t be a bitch, you know that no normal person walks around with orange crumbs in their nose for any reason, don´t take any bullshit or any deception. It will only hurt you both if you are afraid to confront them. I´ve lived it, I´ve done it. I´ve told utterly ridiculous lies to women I´ve loved tantamount to having orange crumbs stuck in my nose.

Good luck. Stand your ground.

Just what I was thinking! Dripping snail trails of orange ooze out the nose — dead giveaway

^ Yea I have. I believe it to be much better for your teeth than letting that horrid stuff melt under your tongue.

It is still going to do some damage but I believe it is mitigated about as much as possible
Has anyone tried this to protect thier teeth?

Yea I have had to wipe my nose a few times on the way into the Suboxone docs --- I still think you are missing the larger point which is this is kind of a 'no harm no foul' situation. (Outside of any personal relationship context I do not have at least)
