Recently I went to see my psychiatrist and he said he was going to put me back on medication and I have no say in whether I take. I had to get an injection of resperidone (anti-psychotic).

Basically I think this bullshit and my question is: can I get these things out of my system any way? Like can I flush them out of my system or take somethinig else to like cancel it out?

No I see it as highly unlikely that it'll get out of your system any way other than not taking it. How can he force you to take it if you are an outpatient??

I've heard of this bullshit, from what I understand, they can only "offer" it to you in a convincing manner (lie that it's necessary), but you can of course reject a thing like that.

Telling you that you have no say and that it's mandatory is some Orwellian shit, man. You might actually need it at the end of the day, OP, since I don't know you, but forcing you to take it as an outpatient is not right at all.

AFAIK there is no way to flush them from your system, you have to let them run there course.
Anti-psychotics are freakin awful IMO.
As for offering and forced - I'm in UK and after stopping my Quetiapine and refusing to take anymore, I was 'offered' a choice between lithium therapy and a forced stay in respite psychiatric care.

I'm sorry to hear this op. I don't know the laws of where you live but in America you have the right to refuse and if they make you take it with force, unless you are deemed incompetent, it is assault and battery. You can sue. Look into your laws there. Unfortunately the Risperidone shot lasts 3 weeks releasing gradually. We don't know your situation like the other posters said. I'm sorry to hear about that.

Pretty sure doctors and the like can drug you all they want if you've been 5150'd in the US.

The only good "antidote" for risperidone is time.

Just found this on wikipedia, referring to if you are 5150'd which the OP isn't:

The right to give or withhold informed consent to medical and psychiatric treatment, including the right to refuse medications (WIC-5325.2) except in emergency (W&I 5008 (m)) situations where danger to life is present; or by court order where the patient is found to lack the capacity to give or refuse informed consent via either a Capacity Hearing (see W&I 5332) and also known as a Riese hearing or via conservatorship.

If you're doctor is taking these methods to put you on it, you DEFINITELY need it.

Why ? Because every doctor out there is informed on your best interests ? He is obviously well off enough to make a thread about his situation in a way that is understandable to everyone here. No one should be forced to take anything into their bodies that they don't want to be there.

Exactly, everyone should have a choice over what is and isn't put into their own bodies without the fear of being carted into psych care for not complying.

the only way you can be forced medication is if you are currently on a 5150 in a psych ward once you leave no one can force you to take shit

Okay. Well I think I'll try to refuse it. I'm in australia and I'm an outpatient/I'm on voluntary treatment or whatever you call it. If anyone knows the laws in australia please let me know.

Thanks guys.

Based on the Queensland Mental Health Act 2000, it looks like your psychiatrist can legally enforce an involuntary treatment order provided certain criteria have been met. It's not easy to interpret, but I don't think you need to be detained as an inpatient for them to enforce it.

Why do you not want to take the medication? Do you disagree with the diagnosis or get side effects?

Both. I'm not sure about the side effeccts.. I think it does.. but mostly I just want to be drug-free as much as I can be (at least this shit) you know. And I completely disagree with his diagnosis. Oh well its all good.

seems like theres gotta be something out there that will speed up the metabolism of it in the bloodstream

St John's Wort is a CYP2D6 Inducer so that may reduce it's effects?
