I was just diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and panic disorder. My doctor prescribed me buspar and every time i go back, she just keeps upping the dosage of that. I want xanax or kpins. My mom takes benzos and has been on them 7 years. I told my doctor that. So she gave me FIVE .5mg of kpins incase I have a panic attack for the WHOLE month. She said she wasn't going to up the dosage or quantity. I'm wondering what I can say to change her mind when I go back there in a month?

why lol? I seriously need help. I really do suffer from panic attacks. I used to buy xanax to help with them but I just can't afford it anymore and I don't even abuse the drug I just need it to function.

You can't convince your doctor to give you more benzos or they'll label you as a drug seeker and stick you with hydroxyzine or some other nonsense.

Seriously, just go along with what your doctor wants you to do. While Buspar is useless, it does work for some. If you weren't benzo-naive when you started the Buspar, its unlikely it will work for you.

Explore options for treatment with you doctor rather than being pushy about benzos. I'm saying this as a fellow sufferer (diagnosed with panic disorder in 2004, generalized anxiety disorder and agoraphobia in 2009), try to exhaust all the other options before you settle on benzos. I'm sitting here trying to kick diazepam right now... never abused it, dose was only 20-30mg a day... but over a year later and I'm still miserable at 10mg despite the fact the medication doesn't work for me at doses up to 60mg (it appears to have just stopped having any efficacy at all, just pure withdrawal). The benzo train is not a smooth ride either.

Thank you all. The fact of the matter is, I do no abuse benzos. I take them and they help me IMMENSELY. I do not want to pay illegally for them anymore. I take them when I feel an anxiety attack is about to happen. I would not necessarily want to take them daily, but only when I needed them. But 5 for the whole month is a tad ridiculous and obviously a tease and unhelpful. I actually didn't push benzos at ALL. I went there and told her my deal and she thought celexa would help. Celexa made me VERY sick. She then turned me to buspar, and hydroxyzine for my sleep issues. neither worked. I kept going back and she just kept upping the dosages. I told her that my my mom and grandma both benefit from kpins and that I would like to try it. That is why she gave me 5 but I would like to get more.

You should never take a benzo when you feel an anxiety attack coming on, you should take them when you're having an anxiety attack that is too much to handle. That is the slippery slope with benzos and why I would rather seem someone be put on an extremely low maintenance benzo dose (like .125mg or .25mg of clonazepam) two or three times a day than "as needed" BS. Its using them "as needed" that gets you into trouble because you get to thinking that you want to experience less and less anxiety until you find yourself taking them daily in much higher doses than that maintenance would have been. That's how it happens for many of us.

With that said, hydroxyzine is a terrible med to give for insomnia as its not really all that sedating, I don't see why she doesn't just give you mirtazapine or trazodone.

Unfortunately, you may have to change doctors. In my experience, the older "wiser" doctors are more likely to realize the benefits of a benzodiazepine than the newer school that is taught to avoid them and dish out atypicals, antidepressants, and other such nonsense instead. The doctor that I have now is old school and she fully understands my need for benzos. She's smart though, I can't trick her into doing things they want I want her to like my old psychiatrist who basically just listened to what I said I needed and put in on the prescription pad, joked around with me for a bit, and sent me on my way which is good because it forces me to actually make progress rather than excuses.

Anyway, best of luck to you, anxiety is not fun... I'm fully disabled and sit in my room all day every day. -_-

yeah doctors are pricks sometimes, you should feel lucky that your doc gave you a trial run for the klonopin. just play her game and try what she gives you otherwise you will be deemed a drug seeker by the secret society of illumanti doctors! dun Dun DUN!!!!

No one here can tell you how to get more drugs from your doctor. If your having anxiety issues follow the Doctors advise and don't try to treat it with benzos, they are not a long term solution. You do not want to be in your mothers position and I'm sure she will attest to that.
